I went here sometime last year when I first moved to Raleigh. I was under the impression that this stylist knew how to work with natural hair. She DOES NOT. She washed my hair and didn’t use a moisturizing system. She had no clue how to blow out my hair before styling it either…it stayed curly and puffy. She took a hot comb to my hair and put beeswax in it when I just asked for a braided updo. Then the braiding was terrible. It wasn’t even braids…it looked like an attempt on Ghana braids but it was nothing close to that. I couldn’t wait to get out of there and take that mess out. She has been calling me ever since (it’s been almost a year now!) I thought she could take the hint that I don’t want to ever go back there but she continues to call me. I don’t think the skill (or honesty) is where it needs to be if you are serving the public.

I wish there had been reviews when I was buying the groupon for Tangelica’s, just so I’d know what to expect. Pros: – great reservation system, she is also flexible and takes walk ins – she’s fun to talk to! Comfortable atmosphere. – I respect the artist a lot, she’s a hard worker. Deltas: – difficult to find; the address doesn’t sync with Google maps or Apple Maps apps. – my first gel didn’t go well – all my nails but 1 peeled off within 3 days. I told her and there was no compensation or offer to fix them. I did return and was way more attentive to how the polish was setting and would have her buff out polish that sinks into the cuticles, and then they would last about 2 weeks. This just means you have to be just as attentive as the nail artist to make corrections. – It’s not a luxury salon – which is fine, as long as you don’t expect that. The chairs are wobbly, tables are messy and there’s not much room to place your hands when you get a manicure. – The 30$ gel nail doesn’t come with a hand massage or lotion at all. Personally that seemed overpriced but with the Groupon I think I got my money’s worth (except for the first time I went and the nails peeled).

Tangeli was very sweet and very nice to talk to. Unfortunately her equipment needs to be up to date. I was also promised over the phone to pay $20 for an acrylic refill…but checked my account and was billed $38. There are clear flaws on each finger from improper drying. Not happy with the appearance after full price do a full set of acrylic and can go somewhere else for a cheaper price and morfor knowledgeable.

Horrible manicure service! I went to her studio this morning and I got the worst manicure. I can’t figure out how to posts pics or else I would show my before and after pics. I had to go to another salon who of course charged me to remove and fix Tangelicas mess. The worst part is she kept saying that it is pretty. Not sure what her version of pretty is. Extended nails were bent, some parts of the nail Ben was not painted. Worst job ever.
