My hair was/is damaged and thinning but after her expertise on those issues I’m on my way to knowing what I can to help my damaged hair. Absolutely loved Maria’s professionalism as well as her knowledge of current styles at any age. She can look at your hair will know exactly what you need. My hair was/is damaged and thinning but after her expertise on those issues I’m on my way to knowing what I can to help my damaged hair. Maria has been my stylist for years. She is extremely talented from precision cutting to hair color. Sometimes my appointments are for a trim and color touch up, but Maria will suggest highlights. I walk out of the salon looking like a new person. Always pleased. The salon is a unique collection of decor. Very inviting and relaxing environment. Critical: ProfessionalismI really needed to have a new cut & color back in May, so I scheduled a consultation. After reading so many positive reviews about Bless Your Hair online & through Nextdoor, I was really looking forward to my appointment, however, I was unable to make it to my appointment.I had to leave town the night before my appointment. My mother was in the hospital & I was told to come immediately, which is exactly what I did. I honestly forgot to cancel my consultation & considering everything that was going on, everything that happened, it’s understandable.The next day I received a message from Maria? 3 minutes after my appointment time..literally…asking, “Are you going to come in or not? I’ve got someone else here that needs work done (work done or similar wording)” I was shocked she messaged me 3 minutes after the appointment start time, again…literally…& started the convo that way! Apparently, a regular needed her hair done & I was the newbie who was 3 minutes late. The tone in her message was very clear – she didn’t trust a consultation appointment with someone she didn’t know.I apologized & told her there was no way I could make it. I told her that my mom was in the hospital & it wasn’t looking good at all, I had to leave town the previous night to get to my mother. I apologized twice for not notifying her prior to the appointment & asked her if I could reschedule at a later date. Hours…again, literally hour later, she responded, “yeah. Just call the salon”.I never rescheduled that appointment. The tone in Maria’s text was very clear…I wasn’t worth her time & neither was my money. She didn’t care what was happening with me or anything about me honestly, other than the fact I wasn’t on site 3 minutes after the appointment start time. I was initially upset I might not get another appointment with the salon or that Maria didn’t believe me, but considering what happened later…caring about Bless Your Hair or Maria was no longer a thought.My mom died that night & while I know it wasn’t Maria’s fault, I can’t justify giving my business to anyone who treats a new customer…another human being….like they are a waste of their time. The only way I can explain it is the tone in her message strongly came across as if she was doing me a favor with the consultation & a favor by waiting 3 minutes to call me after the appointment start time, as if I was beneath her & so was my money? Now, I can’t stop thinking of the way she spoke to me & dealt with me while I sat beside my dying mother..the woman who gave birth to me & raised me…who couldn’t speak to me, who had been through 7 surgeries within hours of each other, lost a leg & then had a massive stroke resulting in brain damage & the entire right side of her body paralyzed….BUT..yea..I deserved that treatment, right Maria?Now..after doing a bit of research..I’ve learned that the owner of Bless Your Hair is named Maria.
