Gave three stars because while it is nowhere near what I asked for, which was medium sized box braids mid back length. The medium size micro-braids that hang to my butt are very neat a beautiful color and not too tight on my scalp. However the salon was not very clean, and the staff spent 95% of the time speaking to one another in loud French not paying any attention to the customers . It also took 8 hours to complete a style I did not ask for as opposed to the 4-5 hrs it would have taken for the style I asked for. However since the stylist who did my hair spoke NO English and the owner of the shop left for hours without checking in I think she did an awesome job. So 3 stars but I won’t go again.

Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, QualityThis was my second time visiting this location and I will definitely NEVER be back again.. Unprofessional! This is the second time I have presented a picture and they claim to be able to do it exactly or at least close to the picture and it wasn’t.. I only returned the second time because even though it wasn’t what I asked for it was a good job but only after 3 different people had worked on my head after starting a hour late and waiting in between for the next person to start.. This time I made a appointment as last time and when I got there I was told someone was running late but would arrive in 15 mins, 15 mins turned into a hour before someone came to start my head and then my hair looked horrible when finished! I haven’t been to Yacine in years. Yesterday I went back to get my hair braided expecting it to take all day. Bebe got me in that chair and my hair was done 5 hours later..the atmosphere is safe and friendly and the service was great.

I originally had an appointment scheduled for 8:30am this morning at a shop in walking distance from my home. When I was still waiting in my car in the parking lot at 9:15am, I decided to do a Google search for the next nearest shop. Yacine Hair Braiding was approximately 15 minutes away. I called the number and Bebe (the shop’s owner) answered. I asked if she was open (many shops are closed on Mondays) and if she had availability ASAP as I was crunched for time. She told me to give her five minutes to see how many ladies were currently at the shop and she’d call me right back. Two minutes later Bebe called me back and told me to come on to the shop. I was in the chair at 9:30am. My hair was completely done by 3:00pm and I love the finished product! I will definitely visit again and recommend this shop to others.

OMG! I am too disgusted with the service received by Ms. Bebe. She is a very nice lady and down to earth. But, unfortunately healthy hair care and proper techniques aren’t being used. I found Yacine Hair Braiding (Bellwood, IL) by doing a Google search. I then called to make a appointment. I stated what I wanted and I even sent a text message describing my hair issues (thinning and baby soft hair) and a photo showing the style I wanted. Following, Ms. Bebe assured me she’ll be able to install a crochet style without stressing out my edges or causing further damage to my bald spot. On the contrary, I left looking like a cancer patient (no pun intended), SMH! My braids were too gapped apart, my bald spot was stretched open, and my edges were in extreme pain. I am not a professional braider, but I do know it’s about braid pattern. Not all crochet styles should be done with the hair braided to the back. Also, every person (depending on his/her hair texture) can’t take tight braiding. Sadly, Ms. Bebe did not take the thinning of my hair into consideration. Thus, I immediately returned to the shop after leaving to retrieve my $100 and take the overly stressed “ALL WRONG” hair style out of my head. To be honest, I think the government should regulate African salons more because many of the braiders have no license and tend to braid everyone hair the same, ” TOO TIGHT” causing damage to the follicles.

Bebe has been braiding me and my family hair about 20 yrs, her work is very neat and she’s pleasant to be around, I’m a hairstylist and I only refer her when people inquire about braids…she is the best in my eyes ❤
