Critical: Professionalism, QualityI went to Petrina. I asked for all over peach. My hair is 3 different shades everywhere, some pieces are still blonde, this is the patchiest dye job i’ve ever had in my life and it absolutely isn’t worth the over $220 i paid. The lady that did my hair literally tried to convince me it didn’t look patchy. I picked out a blonde piece of hair , Petrina said, and I quote “That’s the brown part of your hair.” Honestly this place is great for cuts but it’s so horrible for color. I’ve done my hair better at home with box dye. Calling and trying to get my money back also didn’t help, they said I never complained even though I told my hair stylist it looked bad and patchy. The salon made excuses for how poorly my hair was done saying “oh it was a lot of work” or “the roots just lifted like that because…” Extremely unprofessional and unsatisfactory work overall.Service: Hair coloringI went to Petrina. The ladies are very nice and personable — I don’t think they “botched” my hair in any way. I have very curly, somewhat coarse hair. Maybe it’s the location of the salon that means the population they serve perhaps doesn’t have somewhat “hard” to style hair, but the first and last time I left both stylists left pieces in my hair that were frizzed and still a bit curly. I had spent over an hour and a half there, so it’s not like I wanted to stay any longer and be a nuisance. It was a good couple of trials with different stylists to see if they could get it to work, but it’s really the only salon I’ve ever been to in NYC that just didn’t seem to know how to handle my hair. For reference, I’m an Arab woman with around 2c strands. I also have very time-consuming, thick hair, which could have been the issue in getting it to be more tame. I won’t be coming back, but they’re all very sweet there and I think that if you have easier to manage straight or wavy hair that any stylist will do. Frankly, their lovely personalities are what incentivized me to keep coming and trying! If you’re on the curly, thick, and/or coarse side, definitely go for the most experienced stylists they have, as that was the only time I got a really good result. Regardless, sweet and personable people, so give them a try and don’t take this as negativity in any way. Just sharing my experiences!

Melissa was able to take my boxed black dye hair and transform it into the black and purple that I have been looking to achieve for years. Melissa took the time to make multiple shades of purple until I was happy with the color. Melissa and Rosie also do itip extensions for me and I couldn’t be more happier with how quick and easy they both made the process and the hair color match. In the past I’ve had bad experiences and get weary going into a new salon, but off the bat everyone made me feel so comfortable and never pressured to add on services like other salons. Melissa is always so flexible with appointments and is always so accommodating with everything and making me feel comfortable! I genuinely enjoy going to see Melissa and all the staff

Bamboo Salon provided an exceptional bridal preparation experience for my Wedding Day. Amanda, Jason, and Lina are absolutely amazing at what they do, and are truly unmatched in the wedding industry. Amanda and Lina did my Bridal hair and makeup and I’ve never felt more special and more beautiful than I did on my big day! Scheduling a group of women for a hair/makeup home visit is no easy task, but Gina is incredible to work with and handled all the logistics.
