Ken is pretty funny and cool, and very good at his job. When I first went to see him he researched the very specific technique I wanted done on my hair, which is called “dusting”. He spent hours on my hair getting as many split ends out as was reasonable, like an obsessive compulsive artist. I continue to go back to him for the same technique and he sardonically comments on the state of the world and his life while he snips. The prices are very reasonable. I am pretty picky about my hair and my hair stylists, but I really recommend this salon, and Ken has earned my trust.

I highly recommend Ken at Balance! He is a true artist and the best stylist I’ve ever had. Ken takes the time to get the cut and color just right and works to understand the unique characteristics of the natural hair. My entire family starting going to him after seeing my results. We wish we could take Ken with us following our move!

I lost lot of hair due to some serious health issues. I have visited lot of hair stylists in the past, but they would simply use a flat iron and make it look more thinner. This was my first visit to this salon and Matt suggested a little trimming of the hair at the ends so that it looked more dense. I agreed. He couldn’t shampoo my hair as I have fractures in my spine. I felt bad that it would be very tough for him to style my hair (as it’s very frizzy). But despite all these , Matt styled my hair so beautifully . He made it look voluminous and stylish. He is truly a magician.

Balance is one of the best salons in Baltimore. I’ve been a client for just about 10 years and very thick, long hair. My color is always amazing and they’ve helped me transition through many style changes and color tweaks through the years. My husband and children also have their hair cut at Balance and the difference between a kids / barber cut and a true salon cut at Balance is noticeable. Open and airy location with onsite garage parking close to 83 and the restaurants at R House – very convenient all around! Highly recommend!

I moved to Baltimore in the fall of 2021. I regularly visit the salon to get blow-dries from my hairstylist, Ken. He has years of experience working with hair, which shows during his blow-drys. I have naturally thick curly hair, and he always handles it very well. The salon is very professional and accommodating. The rest of the hairstylists and staff are always very friendly and greet me with a smile. I plan to keep coming here for as long as I live in Baltimore.

I saw Karen for a cut. She was excellent and knew exactly what I wanted. My hair looked beautiful when she was finished. The place is well-kept, clean, and professional, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Free parking is also available. I will definitely be returning.

The atmosphere is welcoming, the place has a very cool vibe and the staff made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. I took my daughter for pink highlights on 4/20/2022. This morning the highlights almost completely washed out after her shower. It looks like it should 3-4 weeks after the initial appointment. Prior to moving to Baltimore, I had gone to the same person for years in my hometown. I have wavy, thick hair that can become unruly if not cut properly. After an “unfortunate” haircut at a different salon in Baltimore, I next tried Balance because of the positive reviews and clean appearance. Karen cut my hair, and I will 100% be requesting Karen for the remainder of my stay in Baltimore. I showed Karen a photo my preferred haircut and she made it happen and more.
