It’s a beautiful salon. It was my first time getting my hair done there after being referred. They didn’t brush my hair after conditioning. The hair stylist didn’t care much for me. I told her my hair is curly and needs to be blown out a few more times then you would with fine hair. She didn’t do the simple style from the picture I showed her, and seemed to care more about the appointment after me. 2 hours after my appointment my hair volume increase because it wasn’t blown out well. I felt very uncared for. She separated my hair with her fingers which caused a lot of pain. She didn’t take care of me the way real hair styles would. So disappointed since I was referred. I live & get my hair done in they city. It really broke my heart because it’s such a beautiful place.

As a woman who has worked in the fashion business my whole life, I have been lucky enough to have had my hair cut by many top notch stylists who I worked with periodically on fashion shoots. You really get to know the professional way they glide that scissors through your hair. I have short, straight hair , which is fine & not the easiest to style as it is very soft. But when my older daughter introduced me to Avanti years ago, my dreams were answered. Now I knew professional artists in my own backyard. I have since moved down to the Delmarva Peninsula & rarely come back. When I do I make a beeline to Avanti. Uta has been my stylist recently & she is an artist with the shears. She takes her time & does what I have always seen only the best do. I have not found this caliber of hair stylist down south, so on my trips up to visit family I make it a point to get my Avanti fix! She studies your face, grasps the type of hair you have, checks out your hairline & then goes to work. Such a breath of fresh air to have that NYC quality & expertise in every aspect of hair refining here in my beautiful town of New Dorp. Thank you Uta! Thank you Avant!

Posting for my freind Mike who’s on chemotherapy. He lost most of his hair and what little remainder turned thin and gray. Took a chance after getting something to eat by walking into Avanti and everyone was so nice to him especially Jen who didn’t even want to take any money. We got back to the car and Mike said everyone was just so nice and that go along way in life.. Five Stars are not enough I think they deserve 10.

Jenn and everyone treated him so kindly that it made such a positive difference and made him feel good during this challenging time. He was overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone. though definitely on the pricier side, my experience was good. i came back a day after my first cut because i realized it wasn’t what i wanted. i explained the situation and the salon accommodated. my second cut was done by Uta. she’s amazing! i showed her reference photos and also explained how i wanted my hair to look. she made sure we were both on the same page before she got started. she was super diligent about the cut and took her time making sure it was perfect. it was a pleasure having my hair fixed by her. i absolutely love how it looks, even after washing it and having it dry naturally (which was the goal! making sure it’d look good styled or not). for haircuts, definitely book with Uta
