I hate to drag a black business, I really do, but for butterfly locs, I don’t recommend coming here. Different methods were used throughout my head and I had to have a professional take them out, after which some pieces had to be cut (I tried). It was hard to take out BUT STILL the middle was twisted. Some hair was braided, some was twisted, some was just completely.. weird. Most managed to completely unravel itself in different areas. I had to go back to her to fix it not even a week later. I couldn’t do any styles because manipulating it at all ruined it further. I’m really disappointed, especially after spending so much.

Astou is super sweet and she listens to your requests. She recognizes her loyal customers and will be loyal back to you. I have been going there for 7 years now for box braids and twists. I’m patiently waiting for her to open back up.

I’ve gone to Astou’s a few times now and I’ve had great service. She does the best cornrow tree braids I’ve ever had. The only time I had a problem was when I went a few months ago, and my braid started to come out the next day, but it may have been from using different hair than what I usually get from her. Other than that, she does a great job. Very friendly and reliable.

I have always thought this shop was great. Its clean and it’s professional. My braids however, are a different story. Every time I go in, the price seems to go up. I would be able to tolerate that if my micros weren’t sliding out 4 and 5 per day. I have only had my hair done 2 days now. For $200, I expected more. If Astou cant braid your hair, dont go. Its not worth the money. I made my appointment in advance and it was with Astou. When I arrived, the shop was still closed. When she did arrive, she took someone else and put me with two of her other braiders. Why make the appointment if you aren’t going to keep it? Time to find a new shop.

I only let Astou do my braids and I have never left disappointed! Anything I ask (not too tight, not too much hair, etc) she does, no problem. And she is very sweet and courteous. My go to every time!

Astou braids too tight without regard for health of natural hair. I could only stand to keep braids, that I spent my hard earned money on, for 3 days!! This style should’ve lasted 3-4 weeks. My scalp is soooo sore, and chunks of my hair are coming out as I take these braids out!! So sad. The braids were cute, but I was suffering and couldn’t take it anymore. I’ve never had this experience before with braids and this is the 1st and last time she will braid my hair.

Box Braids looked nice, we had several different arguments about price during getting my daughters hair done. Hair had fell on the ground, I asked them not to use that hair, argument begun they put hair on counter and eventually used that hair in my daughters hair. Comb fell several times and they continue to use it. 2 braiders, both left and came back during the service which was very unprofessional. If you do go here be very specific and negotiate price prior to beginning.

Hit or miss… I just hate when the braids are all different sizes some big some small some long some short and the oversized knots just to start the braid is irritating other then then that lovely place 🙂

If I could’ve given zero stars I would. I will never spend my money here again. I paid $180 and I asked for medium size box braids with larger parts. Got 3 different sizes throughout my head, horrible parting, and half of my braids are cornrolls not box braids. (Which means they do not move) Also just a big FYI they do not tuck your real hair with the braiding hair…so when they bring out those scissors that is them trimming your hair that’s sticking out of the braids. Don’t let them tell you any different. Do not waste your time. You will be disappointed!!!!
