This is not a massage parlor. I went for a Thai massage, which I’ve enjoyed in Thailand many times. I paid $70 for an hour. After fifteen minutes of light, ineffectual touch, I was asked for more money, apparently for special “favors,” so I walked out without either a massage or my $70.

The masseuse turned up the heat after I arrived because she said I felt cold (I told her it was fine as best I could, there was something of a language barrier), but then complained when I started sweating a few minutes later. She also asked about the tip towards the beginning of the massage. Maybe that’s a thing in China, I can’t say as I’ve never been there. Or maybe she was trying to figure out what type of massage I was after.
