Overall, extremely pleased! Parts could have a little straighter, and had to return the next day because I wanted it longer and the ends of my braids were burned (a BIG No No for me!). I returned the next day and thankfully I was able to get it fixed how I wanted it done originally (for $20 more), and while I was still displeased with my ends, I was just happy that I got my desired length as I was flying to New Orleans the next morning.

Their a bit rude when you asked them to be softer. They don’t have patience for kids no matter what they say. They are mean to our kids because they think they’re too privileged. I saw them do regular box braids in the back of someone hair and knotless on the top. The person booked knotless. They took a shortcut. Some were rude and some were nice and all of them talk negatively about their clients in the native language. I laughed (on purpose) cause they started laughing and they thought I understood their language. They kind of stop talking about people after that.

I previously posted a postive review which I have taken down. Today, I had to leave after waiting for nearly 2 hours without anyone even getting started on my hair. As I was leaving the lady had the audacity to say, well I should have made an appointment, WHICH I DID. I called twice. The first time they told me they don’t make appointments that far out (a week in advance) and to call back on Monday, so I called on Monday and she said come in at 10:30 on Thursday. Knowing I had stuff to do that day I asked if I could come in any earlier and was told no. So today, I came in at 10:30 and at 12:15 she was “almost done” with the person ahead of me. By the way, when I got there, there were 2 people there for cornrows ahead of me who hadn’t even started and 1 in the chair with two women doing cornrows. I’ve been getting my hair braided for years, so I get it, but I cannot just wait around for 2 hours, when I call in advance and come when I was told to come. I wasn’t the only one either. There were other people there complaining about the time they had been told to come. I probably dodged a bullet anyway based on they layers of gunk she was putting in the girl’s head ahead of me. Looking at her braids I knew the wait would not even be worth it.

My hair came out fine, they get you in pretty quickly and they have a lot of braiders working. The past few times I’ve been there, there’s always a little girl in the shop crying because of how tight they are pulling their hair. One time, a lady was blow drying a little girl’s hair while the girl’s hair was DRY. You can hear the combs from the blowdryer breaking. It’s uncomfortable to watch. Also they do speak loudly and it can be annoying when you’re getting your hair pulled. I probably won’t be back.

So I was recommended to Michelle who I was told did amazing work. Unfortunately I’m not impress, granted I was a walk in but I felt like they past me around. First the owner said she could do it but then sent me to a pregnant lady who MY GUT FEELING TOLD ME TO ALLOW HER TO DO IT but when she saw they style she said ma’am I can’t do that I RESPECTED HER HONESTY then the owner sent me to another young lady who couldn’t do it b/c she had a client. So Michelle did it and THIS IS COMPLETELY NOT THE SAME AS THE PICTURE I honestly am taking out my hair now. I do not recommend them at all if you have a design in mind it better to go elsewhere but I did see the owner do some OK cornrows

I got my hair braided the beginning of the month, and some of my braids have fallen out. I would not recommend Amen Hair Braiding they had three women braiding my hair. They don’t all braid the same or have the same work ethic. Most of the braids that I’ve lost are in the back. I paid $200 my braids should last longer then a few weeks! Braids, Box Braids

My hair always looks amazing each time I have gotten it done. I love the fact that they take walk ins as well. Some negatives about the shop is that some of the ladies yell in your ear while doing you hair. They be talking to each other yelling which causes more of a headache than the tightness of the braids. Also they price gouge, they will tell you one price then as they do it change the price or they’ll charge you more if they feel like you’ll pay more this is bad business to me. My hair always looks good so ill go back plus if they hit me with a crazy price I know to say no but because of the price gouging I would not recommend them to anyone.

Critical: QualityI have gone here several times over the last two years (2019-2021) and usually get my twisted or box braids done by Mercy. She does a good job, however, this last time Mercy was not working, so the owner recommended Zara!! The twists appeared to be good until two days later, they began to come undone in the back, as if I had them in for a while. Also, Zara did not separate my hair properly when twisting each area. It seems as if she started to cornrow then lifted my hair from scalp, which causes a pulling feeling when you pull them up. She doesn’t know what she was doing obviously! I’m done with AMEN. I’m sure I’ll find decent braiders in VA!Service: Twist braidsI have gone here several times over the last two years (2019-2021) and usually get my twisted or box braids done by Mercy.
