I have dark brown hispanic hair and asked Shelby the stylist if she could please do a blonde balayage and she informed me it could possibly be done in one or 2 sessions. I am a long time client of Michelle’s and am seriously blown away every time I leave the salon. Over the years I have gone both darker and lighter and it always comes out so stunning. On top of that she keeps my dry and frizzy hair looking soft and healthy!! Michelle and her whole team at Amara have such a kind and welcoming presence and are truly the sweetest team of girls ever. Amara is one of the most aesthetically pleasing salons filled with many helpful and kind women. The owner, Michelle, knows how to run her business well and how to hire the perfect help. Recently, there’s been misconceptions about her being racist and unhelpful towards women of color. If Michelle doesn’t feel like she could deliver the best possible service towards women of color, then why would she? Her business is successful doing what she does with what she knows. At least half of the people leaving these reviews have never been to the salon or met Michelle and are just jumping on the “cancel culture” bandwagon. It’s quite embarrassing how people find the most irrelevant things to complain about. Go to a different salon and get over it.

It’s the simple fact that a career fair at my school she told me she’s not willing to learn how to do ethnic hair. It’s fine to specialize in certain things but to openly say your not willing how to do ethnic hair to a person with ethnic hair is what’s throwing me off. She seemed very sweet but the fact that she openly said that and then went on to say she feels bad for people who have to go to someone’s old basement to get their hair done is disgusting. Very sad.
