Quinton did my hair and it is by far the best hair cut and color I’ve ever had! I came in with extremely damaged green hair and left with silky beautiful hair with the exact cut and color I wanted along with waaay more healthy hair. The same day I got probably like 4 or 5 compliments and my mom even said this was her favorite look on me. He did an amazing job with also understanding the look I was going for and the salon itself was very nice as well. All of the stylists and people at the front office were really nice and professional and really good at what they did. It’s beautiful in there, clean and super friendly. Thank you to all of you!

The first time I came here was almost 11 years ago for my wedding hair and I absolutely loved the results. Not sure why it took me so long to come back! My mom and I wanted to get our hair done as a birthday gift to me and after looking over various places I’ve used in the past and honestly wasn’t satisfied with, we decided to come back here. Glad I did! Bree did my hair and she did a wonderful job. My mom had her hair cut and colored by Roxy and the results are absolutely amazing. My hair is so much healthier and bouncy and my mom looks about ten years younger. It’s probably the first time in years I haven’t been upset after getting my hair done, and my mom agrees feels the same way. I will definitely be back! The environment is very friendly and welcoming too.

I’ve been going to Alter Ego for my last few haircuts with a curl specialist. They’ve been good at what they do but I decided on my recent haircut to do it with the master stylist (owner), Dana Hunter. I am so glad I did! She listened to what style I wanted and gave me a great haircut. She also recommended a good hair product for my curly hair. I will definitely be back!

I think the salon has a number of talented professionals but the policies around setting and attending appointments are ridiculous. They insist on text messaging rather than answering the phone, which takes literally hours of back and forth if you’re new or have several processes. Even when I was supposed to call to give them my deposit (FIFTY PERCENT DEPOSIT? What?) they didn’t answer and instead sent me an automated text which I had to respond to asking them to call me back. Be sure to read their cancellation policies because wow, are they intense. I went to my appointment not feeling well today because I didn’t want to risk losing the money associated with not knowing more than 24 hours ago I was getting sick. To top it off, I have never been in more uncomfortable wash or style chairs in my life. A bent sheet of metal was not the move at the wash bows, y’all, and I’d really like to have been able to lean back during my 2 hour appointment.

First time getting my hair done at Alter Ego and Taylor did an awesome job! I had originally selected the wrong package when booking online and realized my mistake the day before the appointment and she was extremely accommodating. I showed her inspiration pictures and she did a phenomenal job. This is my first time dyeing my hair a fun color and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll definitely be back to see Taylor at Alter Ego and couldn’t recommend more to anyone in the Raleigh area.

I liked the haircut I received, but the products that they use are not great for sensitive skin. I ended up breaking out in severe facial dermatitis after exposure to their products. I’ve probably spent more on my aftercare than I did on my appointment, which was fairly steep to begin with. Overall, it’s taken about three months for me to get back to normal. I would recommend perhaps asking about what products they use beforehand or perhaps seeing if they would allow you to bring your own products if you choose this salon.

First time at Alter Ego and I will absolutely be going back. I wanted a lighter summer cut but wasn’t sure exactly how it would look on me. Kyle listened to me, asked questions to make sure we were on the same page, and then just went for it. He is so talented; this is the shortest haircut I’ve had in over a decade and I absolutely love it. If you are trying something new and need a stylist you can trust, start with Kevin.

Roxy did an amazing job on refreshing my color and a new cut! The salon is busy and easy to find. My only negative feedback is the greeters weren’t that friendly and the use of computer sign in feels very disconnecting. They didn’t greet me or try to be engaging, and didn’t show me where the waiting area just pointed to it rudely. If it wasn’t for Roxy, I wouldn’t bother going back.
