I looked around for a new barber shop in east county as the ones I had been going to didnt do a good job or they didnt listen to what I wanted. I found Al’s barber shop on Google maps and all the good reviews he got so I thought i’d give it a try. I was really happy with his work. The wait was short. The conversation was good and the price was in line with other shops. Hes got a regular customer now.

Critical: Professionalism, QualityI saw great reviews of this place, so wanted to give it a shot. Quick wait and I got a beer, which is why I gave it an extra star. I requested a pretty basic trim up top and one on the sides; I ended up getting a 3 on the side, and limited trim up top. Not only that, the entire time he spoke about how much he gets laid and how great he is at cutting hair, as he aggressively clips my hair to the point where its painful; surprised I didn’t bleed. I requested a pretty basic trim up top and one on the sides; I ended up getting a 3 on the side, and limited trim up top. surprised to see that they are open. stopped by and asked if there was a line or wait. the barber told me I was wasting his time and he was trying to make a living. all I wanted to know, if there was some one ahead of me. after that comment I turned away. guy was rude. I know times are hard but thats not how you greet people.

Don’t call ahead to have your name put on a list and don’t try to pay with plastic or your smart phone. Cash only. This ins’t a salon and he isn’t fresh out of school. This is a great old fashioned barber shop. A dying breed. Al has cut my hair for the past 13 years and I can’t imagine going somewhere else. He has cut my teenage son’s hair since he was two years old. I think it is important for Dad’s to take their sons to a barber. He has raised his prices once in all these years and $10 is a hell of a deal.

For those who don’t know, Al’s Santee Barber Shop hours are actually Tuesday through Friday 9am to 5:30pm, Saturday 8 am to 3pm, closed Sun and Mon. That said, the man was generous to give me a haircut after hours. Quality work for a quick haircut. Thank you

I had my 5 year old sons hair cut here and although Al was nice, I’m not satisfied with the hair cut. This barber seems more for older people and not for new hairstyles. He was very careless and cut off hair that ruined the style I was going for. And this was after I showed pictures of what we wanted. I won’t be going here again.
