Today was my first time visiting this spa. I’m writing the review based on my experience with nail services . The salon is gorgeous inside and out. I was greeted and sent upstairs . The layout was a bit confusing as it is down a long hallway and it’s possible to end up right in the manicure area instead of the lobby area. I was greeted by Yvonne and she was attentive without being intrusive. She made it a point to ask before doing anything which I really appreciated . Although I really liked the pedicure itself I’m not sure I would come back. This is touted as a spa with spa prices (60+ dollars for gel pedicure.) The pedicure is listed as 60 minutes with hydrating masque, hot towels, essential oils and foot and leg massage. What I received was pedicure, scrub, and lotion ( with maybe five minutes of massage). I’m not sure if it wasn’t communicated that I had booked the ritual pedicure or if certain things were just omitted . Unfortunately those are the very things that make someone like me visit a spa for nail services instead of just a nail salon. Additionally there were two nail techs speaking excessively loudly which ruins the ambiance of getting such services and gave it a strip mall pedicure vibe. Alexander’s , If you are going to charge spa prices you must provide services warranting such.

I had a gel manicure and pedicure on Saturday. The nail tech was 20 minutes late but I understood that those things happened. I felt my services were rushed because of the delay. 2 days later my gel manicure had chipped. I contacted the salon to see if they can help me out with the issue. The receptionist offered me 2 different spots in the middle of the day and I had work at those times. I also leave for vacation in 2 days. I explained that to the receptionist. She offered me a $10 credit and before I could even agree to the credit, she began to give attitude and said she can’t cancel other people and/or give me a full refund. I decided to go elsewhere for services, not because of the nail tech, but because of the receptionist.

While there were some wonderful moments (my facial with Devoni, who was skilled, gracious, and very informative) this spa, in my opinion based on my recent experience, has absolutely no aspirations to customer service or even good quality services, as exemplified by the passive-aggressive, terrible masseuse and the defensive and rude manager. (1) they booked my ‘Ritual Facial & Massage’ package treatments with 45 idle minutes in between treatments (without telling me, so I sat in the quiet room waiting endlessly without knowing what was happening). I finally had to get up and find someone to tell me why I was sitting there longer than everyone else. The Steam Room was cold. And, since I didn’t get a tour, despite saying I’d never been there before and needed one, I have no idea if there was anything else to do in that long 45 minutes; (2) the Swedish massage with Gina was absolutely the worst massage I’ve ever had, ever! And, I’m an avid spa customer. I’ve traveled to spas all around the US and the world where I’ve enjoyed thousands of massages at some of the world’s best spas. This masseuse, Gina, spent 55 of the 60 minute Swedish massage working on my lower legs, feet, elbows, and hands. I asked for more deep pressure but Gina said “no, she couldn’t because she had to do Swedish.” If this was a money issue I would have happily paid more for a decent massage. I also told her I only needed work on my back. But, she saved my back for last, about 5 minutes with absolutely no pressure at all!! She just lightly dragged her fingers on my skin, there was no muscle contact at all. It was terrible. I should add that Gina’s 55 minutes of lower leg and lower arm work (again with no pressure and no muscle contact) came after (well, 45 minutes after) my facial, which included a really great arm, hand, lower leg, and foot massage by Devoni. My facialist gave me deeper massage work than my masseuse! But, I didn’t need two hand and feet massages, I needed my back massaged. When I told Gina that I had to wait 45 minutes between treatments and I was confused about why that was, she just kept saying that it wasn’t her fault. Of course it wasn’t! It was the fault of the front desk, who never told me I had to wait 45 minutes between treatments. But, defensive Gina only cared about deflecting and couldn’t be bothered to care or explain why. (3) Then I had a scalp treatment, but Gina only applied the Lime scalp treatment to the very back of my head at the end of my massage, when I had a wash and blow dry booked afterwards. It was supposed to be a full scalp treatment. When I asked Gina what the scalp treatment was, she said multiple times “I don’t have to do it, we can stop now.” When I simply wanted to know if it was a mask, or oil, and what were the active ingredients, simply to ensure that it didn’t trigger a skin condition. Simple logic might conclude that it would be better to apply the scalp treatment at the beginning of the hour massage instead of the end. (4) Next, the hair stylist who was supposed to do the shampoo and dry wasn’t there and I guess never came? After waiting almost 30 minutes i decided to leave. As I was already there for 4 hours when I had only completed two hour-long treatments thus far. (5) I tried talking to the manager, who was so rude and defensive that I left there feeling even worse. This was supposed to be a spa day to double-celebrate the birthdays of both me and my bestie, but it turned into a disaster. The Manager didn’t even offer any credit for the partial scalp treatment, or the 1:15 minutes I sat waiting, or the terrible massage, or the rudeness. I just wanted acknowledgment and understanding, there was none. She also never apologized for anything. I’m still shocked by the lack of care, lack of integrity, and terrible customer service. I was so excited to go, and the lobby was so cute. Sadly, it was a terrible disappointment.

I feel compelled to write a review about my facial I had today at the Alexander’s Salon & Spa located in Scranton, PA. I will start by saying that this was my 3rd Dermasweep “facial” or “procedure” that I’ve had with Alexander’s, one other time (also in Scranton) and the other in Wilkes-Barre. This was by far the worst. The service is listed as 60 minutes and today, from start to finish, was 30 minutes. When I was taken into the room for my facial, D asked me if I was having the Dermasweep treatment only. I’m not sure why I was being asked this, but, yes, I was having the Dermasweep. There was a facial cleanse with lukewarm water, NO facial steam, NO oil, just a cleanse followed by a washcloth wipe off and then the Dermasweep machine and moisturizer. This was all of 30 minutes (which included the time she took me into the room to undress and then redress). When I was checking out, I asked the receptionist if perhaps I booked the wrong appointment, maybe an add-on treatment instead of the facial or maybe I had miscommunicated my appointment with the facialist. She responded no, that the Dermasweep is not a facial and simply a treatment. I informed her that the procedure states it is 60 minutes and that from start to finish it was about 30, maybe a few minutes less, and she stated that from start to finish, including prep, it’s actually about 45 minutes. So she basically told me I was wrong, even though I was clearly only in the facial room for 30 minutes and the procedure on their website says 60 minutes. It felt rushed. Aside from the normal sweeping with the machine, this was a no frills procedure and was not very relaxing. Again, it was 30 minutes when I paid for 60 minutes. The other 2 Dermasweeps I’ve had previously were full, 60 minute, experiences, with stream, oil cleanse, etc. Either these people don’t care about their jobs or simply chose to rush through and not provide a good client experience, which should be expected. I was then asked if I wanted to book another facial. No, I will not be back and I suggest others reading this review about “facial treatments” here in the future. Devon I was nice enough, but it was not what I paid for and did not match my past Dermasweeps. Never again. Happy Holidays and beware!

I have been here a few times for hair cuts and a pedicure. I always like the way my cuts come out but this last time I was there in April, it wasn’t what I wanted going in. I was very happy that the beautician didn’t go ahead and just put highlights in my hair without testing it first. I am happy she did a dye test first, however when I decided to just get it dyed because the highlights wouldn’t take I wasn’t happy with the color the girl dyed it. I asked for a light brown and she went almost black on my hair. Also before I went I asked how much a highlight and dye and hair cut would be I was quoted over the phone and then I go there can’t get the highlights done I was told they took that off the price however the price I paid was very close to what I was quoted on the phone for the day highlights and cut…. So either the person quoting on the phone was wrong or the highlight price was never deducted. Either way it was my last time going here because it is over priced especially when you ask for a certain color and the hair stylist does what she wants not what you want…

I always have a relaxing time. I have had pedicures, gel manicures, facials, massage alone and a couples massage, hair treatments, and more and I really have no complaints for any! It might be 5 or 10 dollars more compared to some others but for the service and environment I think it is worth it definitely for certain services! Looking forward to trying the lash services available! Location and parking downtown.

Me and my family feel very bad for the service of this place. My wife made an appointment 2 weeks ago for a waxing. Yesterday I called to confirm it, today he went to his appointment and they tell him that it does not exist on the list. We’re going on vacation tomorrow and only one woman understands the waiting process for a wax. They also took away the possibility of going to another place due to lack of time. We have recorded yesterday’s call where we confirmed today’s appointment Sunday. but perhaps someone more important was put in that place. the front desk didn’t even apologize to my wife. it’s a shame that they do this with people and it’s worse that they classify people as animals or things.
