Al Fielder helped relieve my pain. The location is clean, comfortable, warm and safe. Al is a gentle person but with very strong arms and hands to dig into the fascia and break up those painful knots. I had been experiencing discomfort and pain in my leg for a long time, that stretching, yoga and regular deep tissue massage just wasn’t helping. After one hour with Al’s targeted Rolfing my leg is feeling much better. He listened to my concerns and took a look at my posture and walking gait before starting. His intuitive fingers found the sore spots (even some I wasn’t aware of) and got to work removing the knots. This part isn’t always pleasant but this is also not a typical massage that’s just supposed to be soothing. Al is unlocking the bound up tissue and releasing the pain which you can feel leaving the body. As long as you breathe through the process, it’s manageable, and after you’ll feel much better. My range of motion has returned and my leg isn’t distractingly painful all the time now. I’ll definitely be back to correct other body pain issues and for regular maintenance.

After moving to Los Angeles this past summer, I was happy to be in a city that has Rolfers. I’m was even happier to discover that Al Fielder has a practice a few blocks away! After recovering from shoulder surgery, I’ve had recurring neck pain, referring to the shoulder blade area, for the past year or so…sitting around with a gym membership that I couldn’t really use. A few sessions with Al turned all this around, and now I’m hitting the gym for weights (and yoga) regularly. No more pain or discomfort. I feel an inch taller. For those of you who have experience with Rolfing, Al’s the real deal. My previous Rolfers in San Francisco and Nashville had 90 minute sessions, and Al’s is 60. I find that to be the perfect duration, as 90 can be a bit much. The studio in his West Hollywood home is serene, tranquil. After the very first session, I noticed a distinct difference, and after five, I’m a new person! For those of you who have not yet “Rolfed,” I can say this: no amount of chiropractic care or deep tissue massages can compare with Rolfing. Massages, you might forget about in three days. An adjustment, perhaps a week or two. To Rolfers, your body is like a gumby, or like clay that is to be shaped, reshaped. The work they do can be life-changing instead of day- or week-changing. It can be very discomforting, but when your mind processes the pain in a fashion that understands that fundamental change cannot come about without some temporary discomfort, it’s all good. For these reasons, I most enthusiastically recommend you make an appointment with Al, and I wish you the best in your healing. Jeff

I’ve been seeing Al for Rolfing on and off for many years (I can’t even remember how long). I simply cannot say enough good things about him and his work. He really understands Rolfing. I was once a professional ballerina and after that was in and out of shape many times. As a result, my body is out of whack. He has helped me tremendously. More than that though, Al is incredibly kind and thoughtful and an all around great person. Over the years we’ve had both deep and funny conversations, sometimes within the same session.

The first time I went to Al was after injuring my left foot during running. Specifically, I had a strong pain in the ball of my left foot whenever I stepped on it. After multiple sessions, Al was able to greatly improve my foot’s overall mobility and completely relieved the pain. More recently, I saw Al again, but this time for weight lifting injuries to my shoulders. I couldn’t lift my arms above my head without pain. And again, after multiple sessions, Al was able to improve the range of motion of both my shoulders and I could lift up my arms again without pain. I am a big believer in rolfing and I would recommend working with Al to anyone.

Take this as a sign that you are meant to meet Al Fielder. He is the very best in the LA area– I did my research! I sought out Al wanting to improve my posture, and get rid of neck & back pain. My posture significantly improved and my neck and back pain is gone. He is kind, gentle, positive presence, and has the gift of helping others from an intuitive place. I started to dance again at home after his first 2 sessions because my body felt so open and free from tension! I ended up completing my 10-session Rolf experience with him and I felt my entire life has changed because of it. He is known as a gentle giant and I will confirm this name is accurate. You can have the experience as firm or as gentle as you want, and he’s always checking in with your comfort level. One of the greatest things I have gained is awareness and freedom in my body, which allowed me to keep my neck and back pain away. Only seek out Al if you want your life to change for the better!

Incredible! Life changing. If you can do this, GO! Al is a true magician. I wasn’t sure about Rolfing at first, but my husband recommended him so many times I decided to try. I honestly don’t understand why I waited so long! Al is so incredibly intuitive and his technique after over 20+ years of practice in beyond masterful! I leave feeling lighter, renewed, and back in my body. Not to mention my lower back pain is practically gone after just three sessions. He is amazing!

Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityI have several orthopaedic issues that I have struggled with and I have found Al’s treatment to be very helpful. I have had experience with rolfing before since I have tried two other practitioners before starting treatment with Al and I can confidently say that Al is working on a whole different level . Both, his knowledge of the body and his technique are superior to anything I have experienced before and really impressive. One month with him working on my SI joint dysfunction has been more helpful than a year with a physical therapist. Also, it is very easy to work with Al. Everything is centered around the patient; from how clean and peaceful his working space is to how attentive he is to my symptoms, to how easy it is to communicate with him, etc. Everything is thought through and speaks of a very high level of professionalism. Plus, he has a great personality so the whole process is pleasant, easy and effective.I have several orthopaedic issues that I have struggled with and I have found Al’s treatment to be very helpful. Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityAl is an an exceptional Rolfing Master in my opinion. I discovered Rolfing almost 13 years ago and reclaimed through that process. (I highly recommend Rolfing Basic 10). I started going to Al 3-Years ago as I needed maintenance. Al listens to not just me but my body to create room and space for me to rediscover my full range of motion that I am capable of and how I can inhabit my body more fully. I highly recommend Al for the Rolfing process of rediscover how life feels when you no longer think about moving or how you will brace yourself to get up but that after Rolfing you are able to just move. Both you and your body will be abel to respond to life more fully.Al is an an exceptional Rolfing Master in my opinion. I discovered Rolfing almost 13 years ago and reclaimed through that process.
