This is the by far worst place I have ever been in!… The woman tried to over charge me and when I told her no thank you than she brought the price down. I still told her no thank you. She proceeded to say you came all the way this way let me make your hair beautiful so I sat down after like 20 minutes she asked me to look at my hair she started to make my parts super big. I told her to take them down and make them smaller. She got mad cause she was only the only person in the shop, everytime someone came to the door she got mad cause she was the only person working in the shop. She was like I’m tired to like 3 customers who came in trying to get their hair done she sent them away unhappy. I don’t recommend no one to go there ever!….

I got my hair done in 6 feed in braids on the 16th of April the next day my hair was coming out of the braids I sent the owner a picture . We both agreed on Wednesday for me to come in at 9. I got there at 9:03 , was waiting outside the shop until 10 I called 2 times . When the owner finally arrived myself and her began to argue back in fourth . She did not fix my hair to my liking . I was in the chair for 14 mins . She did not redo my hair instead she put jam and sewed the back of the braids together. I will not be coming back to this shop . Their customer service sucks . I am very displeased with the outcome. I have been going to this place for over a year smh

The best! Don’t have to say anything more! Kind hearted and quick too! Got my locs done in less than an hour and will do it again! And she keeps you feed and drinks proved too! Dreadlocks

First off I would like to start off by saying stay in Saint Paul and I traveled all the way to Minneapolis to get my hair did on 6/5/21 when I arrived to the shop all the ladies seem very polite. it was when I sit down in the chair to get my hair did the African ladies was talking about me and their language and they further went on to have someone come into the shop with a bedsheet on talking about me as well in her language!!!! I’ve never been to African shop that was so unprofessional as they were!! And I have certainly never once have been to a African shop and got my hair did and loss braids within a couple of days it has not even been a full month yet of me having my braids!!! Mawata Hair Braiding It’s very unprofessional and I would not recommend anyone to go there to get their hair did!!!

Phenomenal. Mawata is perfect. I have fine thin edges and my braids are on point. I’ve been getting braids for years and this by far is the best place in style and quality. Fair prices also. They are also really good with kids. I don’t have kids but I saw how they dealt with other customers kids and it was professional, compassionate and firm. These ladies are so good. The other places I’ve been to are good too and I feel so bad because I’m not going anywhere other than Mawata from now on for braids

Mawata is AMAZING. She’s so flexible and accommodating, super polite and professional. I have never gotten box braids done and needed something to keep my curly hair tame because I’m going to a few festivals in the next month. I was super nervous and ordered my own hair off amazon (didn’t even know what to get) she helped me pick out which hair would be good and she met every single one of my needs of what I wanted done. I did not get something ordinary and she had no problem doing this crazy hair for me. I’ve gotten SO MANY compliments on my hair. I feel so good about it. The hair quality from amazon wasn’t the best as it wouldn’t work with the hot water seal, but she still made them work and my braids are beautiful. I looked all over Minneapolis for a good hair braiding shop and it was like finding a needle in a haystack of bad reviews. I finally came across her shop and am so happy about it. Hairpolice tried to quote me $600. Insane!!! The prices at this shop are much more reasonable and affordable, and the quality of the job done is amazing!! Not too tight on my head. It’s been a day and it already feels better. I’m so happy with the work she did and I absolutely love my hair!! Do not question coming here. You’ll get more than what you pay for!!
