I frequent this place often and when I say often, I mean at least once a week. Often times when I come in, my fiancé and I both get massages. Most times, the massages are good to great and we typically tip 20-25%. The last time my fiancé went in, she told me she got a bad massage, so she tipped only 15% and the guy running the place pressured her into tipping more, which we both think is extremely rude. Today, I went in and got a HORRIBLE massage. The therapist I saw likes to use her nails during the massage and I personally hate the feeling of scratching. I asked her as she was massaging my back to please not use her nails. She ignored what I asked and continued to scratch my back. She also used her nails on my feet. I asked her AGAIN to not use her nails, but when she switched to my other foot, she used her nails again. The session finally ends and I go to the front to pay. My total was $70 +$2 for the cc fee. The guy at the front asked me how much i’d like him to charge my cc. I told him $70. He says, “what about a tip?” I replied “none.” He gives me a crazy look and I told him “i’m not tipping for a bad massage.” He responds “you had 90 mins, you have to tip something.” I told him that tipping is customary, not part of the price. He proceeds to charge my card while whispering rude things under his breath. He had the nerve to ask me again and I told him that I come in often, in the past i’ve never not tipped, but it was so bad that I decided against it. He acted like I didn’t pay for the service at all. After getting home, sure enough, I have scratch marks all over my back. I guess it’s time to find a few place. This place has run it’s course. Sad too because they’re around the corner from my house. Caution when you come here. If you don’t tip what they feel is an appropriate amount, they’re rude enough to remind you, despite the service given.
