Critical: Professionalism, ValueSuch a ripoff. I went in with a friend for a manicure. On their menu, they only listed classic and gel manicure, and based on previous experiences at a different nail salon, I assumed it would be with gel-based nail enhancements even it might cost extra since my nails were too short to just keep them they way they were and put gel polish on. The preparation steps were very similar to what they do before putting on extensions, so I didn’t question it. Until the technician only put on a thin level of gel coating on and started putting polish on my extremely short nails and I told her this was not what I meant. She said she does not have time for it today and its actually called Poly Gel. But that was not listed anywhere in the store that could be seen so I asked her how much it would cost, and she said she doesn’t know and she has to look. And she came back to me with a price that was approximately 10 dollars more than the average service price even in a big metropolitan city like Chicago, which I was surprised about. So I told her to book another appointment for me to come back another time for that Poly Gel. She booked me an appointment for the next day with a different gal and asked the gal next to her what to charge me for today. She was about to charge me for an Express Mani. And I asked her if they are going to charge me the full price for the Poly Gel after my appointment tomorrow too, and she said yes. So they were expecting me to pay both for the Express Mani and the full Poly Gel even though what she did today was mostly the same preparations they were going to do anyway for a nail enhancement manicure. So I asked if I could just book another appointment with her a few days later for the Poly Gel and pay for the Poly Gel alone at the end of that appointment. The gal next to her said they didn’t even thought about that and agreed. But after that, I went online and did some research since I was surprised by the price difference of the nail enhancements they asked for and the average at other salons and decided not to go with it. So I stopped by today in person, 24 hours ahead of my appointment, to cancel my Poly Gel appointment and to pay for the Express Mani they were going to charge me. The gal at the front desk asked the technician who helped me at the other appointment how much to charge me, and the technician suddenly decided with raise it to a Classic Mani, costing me 10 dollars extra than an Express Mani she had previously asked for.
