Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueWorst experience EVER. I “specifically” scheduled an appointment with NOVIA, for a wash and TRIM. I was quoted a price and confirmed that price amount on 2 separate phone calls prior to my appointment. As many others have stated, there’s not a welcoming vibe here.The lady who blowed out my hair was extremely rough and I could feel her tearing my hair instead of stopping to properly detangle it with a wider tooth comb. After the blow dry, I expected Novia to come and trim my hair but that didn’t happen. The same lady then proceeded to put my hair in a ponytail until I asked if it wasn’t going to get trimmed. The main purpose of my visit was for the trim!Again, instead of Novia, that same lady begin to haphazardly trim my ends. Within minutes she was finished. I pulled sections of my hair only to see there were still plenty of split ends (again, the purpose of my visit was to trim them off). I told her to get rid of ALL the dead ends, which I hope she did properly but I don’t have a lot of faith in that. The visit ended with my hair in a ponytail.Now… at the time to checkout, the price I was quoted, twice, was nowhere to be seen. Apparently I was only quoted for a wash and not the trim . As a first time client, I did my due diligence to ensure this wouldn’t happen by stating specifically what I wanted, but yet it still happened. Aside from the wash, because the intern took the time to properly wash and detangle my hair (even as they kept rushing her), the whole experience was a nightmare and the one person I wanted to do my hair did not.Later came to find out that Novia “doesn’t do that”.. she only does styles, yada yada yada, and that’s not what I booked. That should have been communicated with me the second I booked my appointment WITH NOVIA! I didnt expect anything elaborate but geesh, I would expect more than a ponytail from professionals. The whole thing was mismanaged, misquoted and misrepresented. The business as a whole needs to do better and ensure clients are being given the proper information from start to finish. No one wants to feel lied to or taken advantage of.I’ve seen the work that has come from this salon and they are magnificent! If you have dreads, you may not be disappointed. But for us natural hair women, i would not recommend if you expect anything more than a simple wash and blow dry, then scooped in a lopsided ponytail.Service: HaircutWorst experience EVER.
