Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueMy boyfriend had a haircut with Cari and it unfortunately did not meet our expectations. He did originally schedule with Andi as we liked her work, but it was changed to Cari at the last minute and he didn’t have time to cancel.I will say he did go in with relatively long hair, but wanted to cut it short like the picture. He came home after paying $65 + tip with this haircut. I understand an additional fee for longer hair, but to almost double the price for a subpar haircut seems unreasonable. As you can see in the first picture, he wanted a fade into longer on the top, but instead he got a practically hard uneven line.In addition, he went in a little nervous as he hasn’t cut his hair in 2 years and neither the atmosphere or Cari put him at ease.I really don’t like complaining about service work as I highly respect and give the benefit of the doubt to people in the service industry, and I wouldn’t have minded if it was $65 if the haircut had been what he’d asked for, but it just wasn’t. I’m really happy I stumbled upon 1890. I have lived in the GR area for almost 4 years and had not yet found a steady place to get my haircut. Andi has been wonderful to work with and has done a terrific job. I will certainly be a repeat customer. The policy they have of not honoring gift certificates past a year is completely ridiculous. They basically got $100 for doing nothing. I got my husband a $100 gift certificate for Christmas last year and he completely forgot about it. It is just past the year mark and they are refusing to honor it. That is totally unethical and a very poor business practice. I would not use this business on principle alone. It’s basically stealing from customers. Not to mention you now don’t have a future customer who would spend more money. Really dumb on your part.

Overpriced. You can go across the street and get the same hair cut for $40.00. My boyfriend went in for a cut on a mullet and a nose wax which he regrets getting now that he knows the dangers of it and $73 later he was done and it is by far a mediocre cut NOTHING special lol shave on the sides no length cut and some hair trimmed on the top. He said his lady steph was really nice and said he had the whole place laughing which I’m sure he did. BUT if you are looking for a overpriced shop go here! Otherwise you can get the same hair cut at head of the pride for way cheaper. Thanks 🙂
