Worst waxing experience ever. Will never go here again. I went off a referral and it was terrible, lady was way too heavy handed. She was just ripping my hairs off, kept telling me to relax when i was in pain and couldn’t. I was also pregnant so was very sensitive down there. Asked her to please not tweeze at the end it being that i was already in so much pain from her roughness and she told me “it’s her job and she has to do her job” again told her, “no it’s okay. Kept telling me about how she has years working with skin care and etc. She was rude, in my experience. It was painful and felt just as hurtful as hard wax. It’s now been 2 weeks and my hairs are already starting to grow back. I’ve sugared before and i last a month and a half without having hair growing back. Don’t waste your time on going here.

I came to this place August 5th to get my first ever wax done because it was affordable, the commute was convenient and the reviews were great, it was a 4.9 at the time when I came across this location. I wanted to try waxing because every person I know all told me the same thing – “ It’s so worth it “, “ It will change your life “. So, I gave in. Everyone told me that waxing is gonna hurt regardless for the first time but eventually it will get better. Rafaela was super sweet on the phone and in person. I went and of course I was super anxious because I didn’t expecting some pain and don’t know if I was gonna tolerate it or not. She let me taste the wax which was good and that’s how I knew it was organic and safe to use. As she started and took off some parts of the hair it was super painful and I felt super uncomfortable. She didn’t talk to me at all, she is heavy handed in my opinion so i felt like that made it hurt even more. I thought it was rude of her to have the audacity to tell me I need to relax. I mentioned to her this is my first time and I’m nervous and yet she still was trying to get it done. I would’ve appreciated if she would’ve paused and asked me if I’m ready again to make me feel at ease but instead she tells me “ Mami, you gotta let me finish. I have another client behind you. “ At that point I felt like I had to force myself to tolerate the pain. I had to stop a few times and when I did she made annoyed faces with me. I honestly couldn’t finish even tho I was practically bald with little hair left. She then tells me that it would be best to come back 3 days later so she can finish and that way the skin can get used to it. That was the only time I felt somewhat comfortable. I came back like she said and let her finish. She used tweezers which hurt as well but I stuck it through. I gave her a $7 tip in the end because I felt like it was nice of her to tell me let’s stop for now and come back. I got home and she left hair in the inside. I went back yesterday 8/29 to give her the benefit of the doubt and see if I would have a better experience. This time I let her finish but what hurt more this time was the tweezers, she was being rough and I can tell she was pinching my skin to get the ingrown hairs. She made another face to me when she spoke to me in Spanish saying turn around to get the back and I told her I don’t speak Spanish. I went home took a shower and seen a couple of red bumps from where she was being super rough and heavy handed then today I noticed I have scratches almost all over, it looks unpleasant to me and I’m so disappointed. I don’t think I would ever come here again.

Rafaela runs her little wax parlor in the back section of a beauty salon, which was a little strange to see, but it didn’t take away from the experience. The visit was short and quick and she was very kind and accommodating to me, even the fact that I was pregnant, she was so attentive and helpful to me, even helped me undress, dress, and clean-up. Not many salons will do that. We made small talk and I felt relaxed throughout the process. I was very happy with the results and being that this place is just a few blocks away from me, I will definitely return….. I used to go to “Sugaring NYC’ in Manhattan and was never fully happy with the results and would spend 30$ more than here at SWC. I believe I’ve found my new sugaring salon!

Don’t be fooled by rowdiness in the salon. Rafaela is sterile, hygienic and quick. I have been sugared for a long time and can tell that she has obviously been doing this for awhile because of her efficiency and knowledge. I highly recommend and will be going to her again. Just a heads up, though, it’s cash only!

I LOVE coming here to get waxed. Rafaela is quick, efficient and knows how to get you comfortable when the pain is kicking. Once you make an appearance, she remembers your name which makes it an even more comfortable experience. The price is reasonable as well!

I’ve been getting waxed with rafaela for 5 years now and she is the sweetest soul anyone can meet!!! She is quick and is very gentle from beginning to end. My favorite part is that she makes sure all hair are out with a tweezer, i know it sounds scary but any other place would leave me with multiple hairs everywhere , rafaela makes sure you’re bald and comfortable!!!! I LOVE this place and shes the only person go to!!!!

Amazing experience! The owner of this place is super accommodating and she makes sure you are comfortable before starting anything. It was my first time and she explained the entire process and even made me try the sugar wax to prove that it can be eaten because it has no chemicals. The wax worked great for my SUPER DUPER sensitive skin ( i literally have bled at other places and have been burned by hot wax before) I didn’t feel sticky, irritated or like i needed an ice pack afterwards or irritated or like i needed a crazy hot shower and ice pack afterwards. The place is a bit small but that can be expected for a NYC location! For someone who has gotten maybe a hundred waxes in her life i am beyond happy with this place and will continue to come back and would recommend anyone who wants to try sugar wax without going into the city to come here.
