I came about two-three weeks ago to get a hair cut. My hair was decently long and I have a hard time figuring out what’s suits me personally. I came at a friends recommendation, as i was having trouble and issues with haircut as barber shops tend to do a basic fade or short cut. I still wanted my medium length hair and i wanted my bangs trimmed to make it more “anime stylish”. I did ask her what she recommended and i did say i did wanted a more trim and to shorten my bangs. She did wash my hair and felt like she took time to cut my hair i’ll admit. However the way it came out to be, is very awkward. Half of my bangs are shorter on my right side. and as well just not straight. It’s looks really choppy. I wanted kind of my hair to be evened out and have a little shorter layers. I guess it’s was my fault for not showing a picture of what i would particularly want but i just genuinely don’t like it. I thought maybe with time it’ll kind of grow into it but no. If anything it’s just growing out awkwardly as well. I just try to ignore it by styling my hair with putty but i’m really hating going back to putting product in my hair again, i would’ve rather just have a more natural look instead of just trying to cover and hide the imperfections. Still i gave this salon a shot but i’ll just look for another place that’s caters more into men/asian haircuts.

Strawberry Blonde is everything a fantastic salon should be. Fabulous stylists who not only are knowledgeable and well versed in different hair types and textures but also friendly, accommodating, warm, and inviting. Leah has been doing my very thick/curly hair for a year and it’s never looked better and been healthier. I also can’t say enough about the welcoming and comfortable environment. It’s definitely a place you can bring your child if need be and not feel uneasy. I really can’t think of any negative aspects, even the prices are reasonable. Just make note that they solely carry Bumble and Bumble products.

If I am being honest I have spent the past week going back and forth on whether or not I should leave a review because it is not in me to complain but after how much money I spent here I feel like I need to say something. After spending months following this salon on instagram I felt like if I was going to go blonde again this would be the perfect place to do it. I have been dying my hair blonde for years and I occasionally go back to brown for a little while but I have never had issues returning to blonde until going to this salon. When she took off the foils the highlights were super blonde but after adding what I believe was a gloss and shadow root the blonde is non existent and the strands of hair that are lighter I would call caramel at best. I’m in college and wanted to treat myself before I graduate in December but I ended up leaving extremely dissapointed. Everyone I know was in shock because I left there with my hair looking maybe a little lighter than what I came in with and a short haircut. The haircut was fine but when it comes to the color I can’t believe I spent almost $300. I still left a decent tip because again I know this is someones livelihood and I just hate to have the confrontation but I just wish I could be refunded…

I went to Strawberry Blonde for the first time, trying to find the salon in West Ashley after I moved. I went in for a haircut and layering. I had 2-3 images as references. The first try wasn’t what I was hoping. It felt like I was just getting a simple haircut with minimum layering. We tried to fix before I left. I communicated that I would like the bottom half of my hair to have less volume so that it gives the top part of my hair more volume. But I was told that it wouldn’t look good. Well, what I was trying to tell my hair lady was basically something I had for years. However, everyone was nice and wonderful to me. I left the salon thinking – “this is OK for now but I probably will have to keep looking for my perfect salon.”

There are too many good salons in Charleston for them to get away with treating people (and their money) this way.I found this out because they charged me (full-price) for an appointment that I requested to reschedule 3 days in advance. The manager insisted I provide a screenshot of my request to be refunded. Thankfully, I had the texts saved.I have yet to be refunded.I hate that who’s really being punished here is my stylist. Leah, if you do at-home service or change salons, let me know! Bummer to loose out on a 2 year loyal customer.The no-show policy is wack. They charge you full-price. She talked to me about what I wanted and then explained what she needed to do in order to achieve that look. I had my haircut and styled by JM in West Ashley. I was going from long hair (past shoulder blades) to above the collarbone. I checked in and sat down for only a few minutes before she took me back to her chair. From the beginning she really took charge of the appointment after I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She further clarified different cutting techniques and what they did to allow me to decide how she should proceed. She did a dry cut on my hair to ensure I got the length I wanted and then shampooed me. This may have been the best part! She gives the BEST massages and I felt completely relaxed. After I got back to her chair she finished my blunt cut with precision and added texturing layers. I loved the blow-out and curl. She even gave a free sample of Bumble and Bumble dry shampoo – every woman’s best friend! I definitely will be back for balayage and future haircuts.

I have to say that Abby has been fabulous for my hair. I’ve been seeing the same stylist for nearly 15 years. I was so afraid to leave because I was committed to my stylist. At the end of our journey I was unhappy with my hair and Abby has totally restored my hair’s health. She has also helped me learn more about hair care and styling as I have aged and moved into more professional environments. I love her assistants as well and her ability to lead. Great head massages!
