I’ve been looking for a salon for a while now. I go to the University of Georgia, and every salon in my area is super over priced and not very welcoming (from my experiences). After some extensive Google Searching, reviewing and price checking, I came across Southern Roots, which is just a short 20 minute drive from UGA. I personally went through Brittany, one of the hairdressers, and was blown away by the patience, friendliness and cooperation she had with me and my crazy college schedule. It’s safe to say that Athens feels even more like home now that I have found a salon to get my hair done at, escape from all my worries and be surrounded by such a sweet and caring atmosphere of women that work at Southern Roots! I highly advise anyone to check them out; you won’t regret it!

Mandy is the best! I’m so particular and picky when it comes to who does my hair as it’s blonde and I get highlights but I was extremely impressed by Southern Roots as a whole. If you ever have to change or need a hairdresser in general Mandy will make you proud without a doubt!

I’ve had my hair done here once. The lady was awesome. A trim, layering, and she had another lady help with one of her other clients and she curled my hair! Loved the results! Will definitely go back!

This is a small shop with very nice people. I always use shelia she is the only person i trust with my hair. I am a man in his late 20’s and ive been using shelia for almost 10 years never a bad cut. Southern roots also offers other services as well.
