NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE! Horrible (non-existent) customer service. The owner and workers here need to learn about customer service, especially since they are in the service business! We received a call 7 minutes after our massage time and were told instead of rushing over, they could reschedule us for the following day so we “can enjoy the full massage”. We thought this was great! Then we received a call 32 minutes later (after the time-slot for our massage ended) from the same girl saying she made a mistake (she was new), that she could not just reschedule us for the next day the way she did, and that she has to charge us in full. Mind you, this was HER mistake, not ours. We were able to come for our massage, but were told not to come! We asked to speak to someone, she said she can have the owner call us that night. The owner never called us. I called the following morning, and was told the owner will call me. The owner never called. I called again later that day, and again the following day, trying to get in touch with the owner, to no avail. I called the following week (today) and I was told they reviewed the call log, and it shows they called us after the massage time-slot was over, and based on this, the owner did not call us and will not refund the charges. This is unbelievable! First of all, the call they saw in their call log was the girl’s second call saying she made a mistake and could not reschedule us, not the first call that was 7 minutes after our start time. I even offered to show my call log which shows every call ever made between me and the spa. Second of all, even if the owner incorrectly believed the first call was made after the time-slot was over, this is still NO excuse to not call a customer back, esp. after the customer has made several attempts to get in touch with you! What is worst is the girl’s response today re why the owner has not called back: the owner is “too busy”. It is not surprising the staff is this unprofessional when the owner is. Side note, the first time I walked in here, one of the staff members was outside smoking and fighting on the phone with her boyfriend. I should have known then this is not the right place for relaxation.

My experience was so amazing that I booked my follow up appointment before my massage had even finished. I’ve been neglecting to take time for myself this past year and a half and it started to catch up with me. I’m constantly in pain. A good friend of mine has been telling me that I need to make myself a priority at least once a month. I decided to listen to her and I am so glad I did. I did a 60 minute Deep Tissue Massage with Gabe tonight. I am in heaven right now!! He worked into my most troublesome spots and all I had to do was circle my problem areas before we started. He stretched me out a bit and did trigger point release where I needed it the most. Sand Spa has been incredible since the day it opened, but every time I go back it keeps getting better and better. I’ve been to many of the spas around Manhattan and Hermosa Beach. Sand Spa is by far my favorite. The prices are extremely fair too. Great ambiance, great staff, great prices, great services. I’m also going to listen to this same friend and go to Davis and Derosa Physical Therapy this week in El Segundo! The two will compliment each other well if I stay consistent.

Love, love, love sand spa. My mom and I frequent both locations (there is another one on Pier in Hermosa – nails). We normally get massages which are AMAZING. Today I got a facial and brow wax. My face looks and feels so much better. My skin is literally glowing. I love sand spa. Also, the front desk is really nice and they always remember my name.

My boyfriend and I went in for a couples massage for my birthday. It was great! Cute little blue building and friendly staff and VERY close to the beach. I’ve gotten a lot of massages and this is the only place that doesn’t hand you a clipboard and make you answer a bunch of useless questions. Also, it was actually a FULL hour. I have never gotten a massage that was a full hour before. They were about 10 minutes late to start which was a downfall and they do require cash tip only, which was different for me. Maybe it’s a california thing. I’m from MN. I am used to being able to tip on my card with the service payment so just make sure to bring cash for tip.

Came here after a long day of being stressed. First time ever visiting a spa and I have to say that it’s one of the most relaxing experiences in my life. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff makes you feel right at home.

Do yourself a favor and do not book a massage at this place. Take this from someone who loves a really good deep tissue massage to release tension. Not only was that the worst massage I’ve ever had (no pressure AT ALL) she just applied lotion as if I just got out of the shower. The masseuse… god bless her heart… would go over a really tight area and actually say “you should come back and get that worked out…yeah another session would be good for you”. UMMM I’m here now… please try to work it out as best as you can while I’m here now. Not only all of those above complaints but she would take 5 MINS in between each section of my body to “get more lotion”. I think she was messaging on her phone. My neck actually hurt from laying on the uncomfortable bed and head brace. WORST MASSAGE EVER.

Excellent massages, both deep tissue and Swedish. Appreciated the online booking system. Surprised that they were able to accommodate same day bookings but really pleased. Diona worked some kinks out of my back that others hadn’t managed to touch before.

Coastal vibe that is really well kept. You can tell that these people love what they do. Got a 60min deep tissue massage from Emma and she was probably the strongest massage therapist I have ever had. It was impressive.

No show masseuse. Sat in the lobby for half an hour before I just cancelled my appointment. The front desk girl was very nice about it, but the place felt awkward and unprofessional. Go somewhere else.
