Our practice has been a vital part of the New Mexico medical community since 1974. Women’s Specialists of New Mexico began their Med Spa program in 2012 with Dr. Steven Gough, MD and Mary Clare Galarza, RN leading the program. Over the years, our practice has been able to offer additional Med Spa services. With the enhancement of our services, it was time to open our first Med Spa, the Oasis at WSNM. We are pleased to offer our Med Spa services to our patients in Albuquerque and the surrounding area.

Botox
How does Botox® Cosmetic work? When you smile, frown or make facial expressions, your muscles contract. Over time muscle contraction contributes to making the skin become less elastic which causes wrinkles and frown lines. Coolsculpting

Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a skin resurfacing treatment using a sterile surgical blade to remove the top layer of dead skin cells as well as temporarily removing vellus hair “peach fuzz”. To maximize your results you can pair this treatment with a glycolic peel for smoother, brighter skin.

Fillers
n 2016 Allergan added to its filler portfolio with the introduction of Volbella which is FDA approved for injection into and around the mouth area. The Hyaluronic acid concentration in this filler is lower than in the other Allergan HA products. This causes the gel to be especially soft and smooth, which then creates an unique, soft, subtle lip augmentation and correction of wrinkles around the mouth. These natural looking results last approximately a year.
Hollywood Laser Peel
The Hollywood Laser Peel (Spectra Peel) is a no-downtime procedure that helps rejuvenate the appearance of aging, damaged skin. This gentle procedure is safe on most skin types and is a great way to get a quick skin refresher without the longer downtime associated with other laser procedures. It evens skin tone, reducing appearance of pigment, fine lines, acne and acne scars, your skin will feel and look younger. The treatment can be performed alone, but works best when you have several treatments over a period of time.
Kybella
Kybella is an FDA approved treatment to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also known as a “double chin.” The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin.
Laser Hair Reduction

The LUTRONIC ADVANTAGE Laser offers permanent hair reduction by using pulses of laser light which destroy the hair bulb resulting in less hair growth over time. Multiple treatments are needed for best results. .
Laser Tattoo Removal
Spectra laser tattoo removal uses laser energy to significantly lighten or completely remove your tattoo. Ink particles are targeted by the laser energy and broken into small fragments that your body can absorb. Tattoo ink is heavily deposited deep into your skin, and as a result in order to completely remove the tattoo, multiple treatments are required.
Melasma Treatment
Combined therapy results in the best results. We usually start with a series of chemical peels along with topical products. This helps break up the discoloration on the surface of the skin. After the series of chemical peels are completed we begin a series of laser treatments. The laser energy targets the melanocytes in the dermal layer of your skin by destroying the pigment.
Spider Vein Removal
Our Lutronic™ Advantage Laser can treat vascular lesions also known as spider veins. The laser works by applying heat to the vessel targeting the hemoglobin within the vessel. This will ablate or shrink the vessel so that it is no longer visible without damaging the surrounding tissue. More than one treatment is necessary for the best results.
ThermiSmooth
ThermiSmooth treatments are relatively pleasant for patients to undergo — most say that it feels like a warm, relaxing massage. Each of these body contouring treatment sessions can take anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes to complete depending on the area being addressed. Following treatment, patients usually experience some degree of redness, but this usually subsides within a few hours. Typically, patients must undergo about five treatments, each spaced two weeks apart. For optimal results patients should return for 1-2 “touch-up” treatments annually.
