I do not remember exactly when I discovered Chad. Somewhere between 18 months – 2 years. Even with thinning hair, I am still picky about the result I get. This is why I avoid the chain hair shops and the push ‘em through business model. I have not had my hair cut anywhere else or by anyone else since coming to Morty’s. While in the chair Chad talks with me and others that come in on a first name basis and personal level. At the end of the haircut he shaves my neck with no additional charge. Always singing or whistling he keeps the vibe upbeat. Reading through some other reviews I’m a little taken aback because after several experiences at Morty’s I have never seen the described behaviors out of Chad or Stephanie. Not working for a “boss” and being a business owner means you enjoy the perk of setting boundaries for your business and your life. It is interesting to me that people are more critical of local business. Especially in a small town like Deer Park, where we actually have a page on Facebook dedicated solely to shaming citizens of the community. (If that doesn’t wreak small town drama I don’t know what does.). Lastly, the price has always been a little under the main stream average. A good value, especially with the neck shave thrown in. Please don’t retire until I’m dead….or finally bald! But hey if your the type that enjoys playing video games or pool even though you cannot get the same stylist every time and largely no one listens to what you are asking for in a hair cut there is a great place in Spokane with several locations for your convenience.

I would disagree with all the negative things said in any of those reviews, as Deer Park locals, we have been several times and will continue for excellent service and fantastic work. In fact I took my son for a haircut tonight and the gal was extremely patient and kind to him even shaved his neck and blew the hair off his shoes when done even in the midst of an really odd man barging into shop with a briefcase explaining his whole life story and involvement with the Mexican cartel ( obviously under the influence) ranting on and on; she still maintained a 100% professional demeanor and kindness to her real costumers! Thank you, and we will be back!!

Blonde hair, built like a hot pocket, super rude. One of the strangest experiences I’ve ever come into. Made us wait after walking in and waited for two other haircuts to say something. He sits in the chair and she refuses to cut his hair because it wasn’t combed. Combed, yes. Curly, yes. If you didn’t want to cut his hair you could have said that instead of giving off hot dog water vibes the entire time we waited then refused. Her whole demeanor and attitude was entirely uninviting. Again, hair was curly and it was a few minutes until closing. Someone wanted to go home early.

I have gone here multiple times to give them a chance and because they were the only place open. Not a great haircut and no customer service. Once, not even a hello at the door. The lady treated me like she didn’t like me, and we didn’t even talk.

Great place! Got my 8yo in quick and did a fantastic job! I love how clean it is <3 and she took her time and did a proper fade. It's hard to find stylists that will take their time and do a good job on a child cut. Highly recommend this quaint local shop.

Will only go there if the male barber is there, the female barber was nothing but rude and made sure we didn’t feel welcome by saying ” do you have an appointment” I replied with no ” well then I can’t help you ” could I make an appointment? ” NOT IN HERE “
