I went to Haven salon to get a hair cut and full highlights last week. Their website stated that these services would cost $270, and as a college student, this was my maximum budget. I made an appointment for these two services but when I was checking out after my hair was done, I was shocked when I was being charged $390 without tip! I was appalled. She had done a $120 toner to my hair without consulting me first. There was no point during my visit where she had told me (or asked) she was doing this to my hair, yet charged me an EXTRA $120 for my visit. When asking for my money back, I was offended when my hair stylist, Beatrice, blatantly lied to the owner about having a “consultation” (I had never had a consultation) where she had “told me” she would have to do a toner to my hair. In addition, she had lied about needing to do highlights for 5 inches of hair growth, when during my visit she explicitly stated she was working with 2 inches. I was never given my money back, and I feel robbed. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SCAMMED!!!!!

I moved to Santa Barbara from LA a few years ago and used to drive to LA to get my hair done. I am platinum blond and have short hair. I usually get a cut and color. Cindy is the best, and her team, (when they have filled in) are impeccable. She’s a delight to be around and knows her craft well. Give this salon a try and you’ll find that you won’t want to go anywhere else.

Jen is very intuitive about what looks good for a person’s face, skin tone, lifestyle etc. She had suggestions AND asked ME what I wanted and she cut my hair in the perfect way. Jen is a blast and she rocked my hairstyle. Making another appointment today! Love Haven Salon in Montecito!!!

The overall experience and results were below average. The stylisht completed applying my full head of highlights in roughly 25 minutes. (Although I booked for a partial highlight, she assured me there was enough time for the transition to a full). There seemed to be no technique or consistency to her application, which showed in the final result. I stayed roughly 2.5 hours to what felt like teaching my stylist how to do hair! (For instance, I MYSELF suggested for a toner application due to the apparent lack of color —the highlights were pure white). My hair turned out rather “stripey” and differed greatly from what I asked for and showed pictures of. My hair was not ruined or completely botched. Yet for the price ($300)… the time, energy, and technique was simply missing. I tipped her nicely but sure do regret it! Santa Barbara Salon/Alex’s Salon has never let me down and he sure holds customer satisfaction to a higher degree! (No one wants to go to a salon when they always have an excuse or something to say to an unsatisfied customer)!
