I have been following Kurtis around Sacramento for 10 years now. He is an absolute master and professional and the only person I trust with my hair. He has a great authentic vibe and creates a safe space for his clients. The salon is beautiful and comfortable, clean and in the heart of midtown. If you want good vibes and amazing hair, go here. Just had my first appointment and I believe my search for a stylist in Sac is finally over. Finally, someone that’s isn’t intimidated by my thick, dense, curly hair! Shawn did a gorgeous color and a beautiful cut, and managed to get it straighter than it’s ever been. Yes, it did take a long time because this is the first time I’ve done anything with it in like a year and a half (thanks Covid) and also because I just have so. much. hair. Totally worth the time though, 100%.

After a few impatient weeks, I had my appointment today- 9/27/21- with Shawn for a cut and color.He is warm, professional, and communicates so well!! He did a thorough consultation with me about my hair history, my long term goals and my goals for this particular appointment.He managed my expectations from the start of the appointment, and developed a plan of how to achieve my long term hair goals. He did such a great job at translating my vague, non-professional descriptions of what I want into practical, attainable terms – the sign of a true skilled, professional!I appreciate that he affirmed products that I am currently using at home and made appropriate recommendations for products I should add into my routine to maximize the health of my hair and the color retention.I love my hair! I am new to Sacramento and new to coloring my hair as well. I had my hair dyed copper/red in August in my hometown of Atlanta, and my roots had grown out almost an inch! I live close to geometry salon and found (read: stalked) all of the stylists’ instagrams to find who I might want to book with. I settled on Shawn Burke and booked with him ASAP. Excellent place to have your haircut. Shilo is a consumate professional and has taken care of me for the past 3 years. This has been through a series of haircuts that span the undercut fboi craze of the mid-2010s, to the more modern take of “short on the sides, long on top” quaff of any late 20-something year old man inevitably gets as they enter the professional world, and finally overseeing the pandemic long hair mane of 2020-2021. Shilo has always given her honest opinion and has worked her magic with my somewhat unruly, very straight and thick East Asian hair. She’ll give you great advice on what products to use and take her time to show you the process of styling your hair from shampoo to blow drying to set product in place. This is an absolutely wonderful place and I 100% recommend it.
