Dr. Steven Gabel practices exclusively hair restoration in the Portland area. As of January 1, 2023, he has been elected as the Vice President of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgeons, and next year will the President of the organization. He is the only physician in the State of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho to be recommended by the American Hair Loss Association, and to be admitted to the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons, which is a organization by and for consumers that recognizes that not all surgeons are equal in their skills and techniques in hair restoration surgery. He travels throughout the world lecturing on current topics in hair restoration and hair loss.

I did a fair amount of research and visited a few local doctors in the Portland area. Part of what convinced me to go with Dr Gabel was all these great reviews he gets. But after some my research and consultations I was convinced he had the most experience in this area. A year later now I can tell you without a doubt, it was some of the best money I’ve ever spent. The results are amazing. I was 90% bald on the top and it’s about 95% full now. The results have blown my mind. I have a full head of hair on top in the area where I needed it the most, now. And the crown area in back that we didn’t have enough harvested hairs from to fill in the first surgery, at least I have enough in the top to pull back there now, so it looks a lot better. But I’m planning a second surgery to fix that area as well. Dr Gabel is nothing short of a miracle worker. He and his staff are amazing, the facility is meticulously maintained and I think he must have the best most skilled assistants in the area, maybe the country. You owe it to yourself to check Dr Gabel out. I’d recommend him to anyone wanting hair restoration

I’m currently in the middle of Dr. Gabel’s work removing two growths I’ve had on the back of my head since birth. He has removed one and it is in the healing process before we move on to the second later this fall. I can’t express enough how great Dr. Gabel and his team are and how this procedure has already changed my life. Everyone in the office is friendly and supportive and knowledgeable. I can call them any time with questions or concerns. Honestly the first removal has been so life-changing, I am impatient to get to the second one. I also love how Dr. Gabel does his professional work in an almost fun environment (is that possible in a doctor’s office?). He plays music in the surgery room (it helps me relax) and he is just an all around pleasant guy. His nurses are fantastic too.

Dr. Gabel and his staff are simply amazing. I had hair restoration done with Dr. Gabel back in November 2016. His staff were not only very polite and professional, but welcoming. Dr. Gabel was extremely thorough and made everything easy to understand from the consultation to the operation day and during post-op recovery. On my operation day, we met in the morning and collaborated more in depth on my new hairline design. He and his operating staff spent several hours ensuring that my new hairline was the most flattering for my face. His attention to detail gave me the utmost confidence in his abilities. The surgery went quite fast. They completed over 1200 grafts before lunch. Lunch was ordered in and was worth a 5 star rating from the restaurant they ordered from. The second half the day flew by faster than expected. Dr. Gabel allowed me to pick my own genre of music and we had a little game of music trivia while he was finishing my grafts, 3166 all said and done. I experienced absolutely no discomfort during the surgery, his anesthesia skills are amazing. What little swelling I did have from the surgery subsided in a couple days. My new grafts shed in about 10 days, as expected. My new hair was coming in very full and very fast. At 2 months I had a lot of regrowth, and by 3 months you couldn’t see any scalp in the transplant area.
