At first I was conflicted with whether or not to leave a review after getting my hair highlighted a few days ago, because I felt like my hairstylist and I got along very well while I was in the chair, however I feel I need to document my experience in order for people to avoid going through what I went through financially. Let me start off by saying I was very pleased with the service itself. I had a bad experience at a previous hair salon when I asked them to put highlights in my hair, and was very reluctant to let anyone else touch my hair for years, but then I heard about this curly hair salon as one of a handful in the area. So I did my research on pricing on their website and decided to make an appointment. I told my hairstylist what I was going for, and he was very informative and helpful with seeing my vision. He was by himself and seeing other clients during the time of my appointment, but I admired him for being able to handle the work load by himself, so I patiently waited. When he finally put me in the chair, he was very personable, he gave me a consultation about my previous history, and we had good conversation throughout. I asked him if he could trim the dead ends off my hair just to freshen it up, and he did the job, however keep in mind that he cut a very small amount off. In no way did he style my hair any different to be considered “a cut.” By the time it was time for me to pay, my heart sunk at how much I had to pay. He gave me a full head of highlights like I requested, which on the website said was $200. I have about medium length hair so there wasn’t a whole lot of product that could have been used, for it to be any more than that price. When I went to pay, he told me he doesn’t charge any less than 325$ for his highlights. And he told me the trim he did was another $100. He told me he was trying to help me out with the price, however once he also added on the hairstyling gel for $26 to my total, it ended up being a whopping total of over $500, including the tip. I wasn’t not going to tip for the services he provided for me, because again, I was happy with my hair itself. But I felt like I was put in a very hard situation, because I was not expecting to leave there spending any more than 300$ at the most for everything. I felt taken advantage of that it wasn’t disclosed to me that his price would be different than what the website said, and I couldn’t NOT pay. I ended up having to put it on an emergency card because the card I was going to use got declined. Please keep your finances in mind before making this appointment. I feel I should have my price adjusted to $200 for highlights and that a trim should be included once you’re paying for highlights, if you’re not cutting my hair a completely new style or cutting excessive length off. Hopefully the salon makes this right. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Everything But!!! I love this salon. The one on one consultation with the owner/stylist is a listener. She makes sure you are heard, the other stylist are the same way. The salon is calming coziness, which is what I like about the place and a lot of fun. Their skills speaks volume they are not limited to a Dry Cut but many other techniques as well. They are professional, warming, and inviting, I like everything but the fact there is only one owner. She is very good at what she does.

It took me a while to leave a review because I don’t like to leave negative reviews, but I still think about how bad my experience was. This salon is good at giving curly cuts, but if you are looking to get your hair dyed (especially blonde), I do not recommend it. I showed Jess pictures of blonde hair and was assured that she could do it. She advised me against it because it would damage my hair, but I made it clear that that was okay.

Jessica is absolutely fantastic! I always leave here with a great haircut that I love. She really is more of an artist than a stylist and explains everything and teaches you how to style your hair yourself after the cut. Very down to Earth and awesome to chat with while you get you’re hair done. Yes, it’s more expensive than a lot of salons in the area but I truly believe you get what you pay for and I will be coming back for many years!

I love how well Jessica did my hair. This was my first visit at the For the Love of Curls Salon. The owner Jessica greeted me with a warm hello and immediately made me feel welcome and comfortable. She studied my hair fully and gave me feedback on what color and style would work best for my curl type. She colored and cut my hair beautifully. The color came out absolutely gorgeous and the curly cut came out perfect. Jessica is a true hairstyle professional and expert colorist. I will definitely go back and highly recommend this salon.
