The Dry Eye Spa of West Michigan is devoted solely to diagnosing and treating Dry Eye Disease also known as Ocular Surface Disease. People who have this disease experience daily irritations of their eyes and eyelids. It becomes an aggravating, chronic, and inflammatory condition that can lead to styes, chalazion, blepharitis, disfigured eyelids, eye infections and vision complications. I am very happy with the results I was able to obtain. As long as I follow Dr. Dirk’s advice and recommendations, my eyes feel pretty good most days and for me that’s a win. Also, by following all of his recommendations, I have been able to get off and stay off the very expensive eye drops I had been prescribed by other physicians. I was on three different drops and still having issues. Now I only use the drops Dr. Dirk suggested and have saved myself a lot of money. I would highly recommend his services. Full disclosure his services are not inexpensive but compared to what I was paying for all those prescribed eye drops His treatment saved me money.

I have had severe dry eyes for many years & tried several drops and even had tear duct plugs in order to keep more moisture in my eyes. They constantly overflowed and I always had a tissue handy. They were very bloodshot and embarrassing. Dr. Dirk did a very extensive exam of my eyes and said I had plenty of tears just not good tears and took the plugs out. I went through the treatment he recommended and he got my eye lids to excrete the good oil needed to lubricate my eyes. On a scale of 10 I was at 0 when I started. I am now at 7 which is huge for me. I continue every 3 months now and highly recommend Dry Eye Spa.

I can wear contacts again! I used to be a full-time contact lens wearing. I transitioned out of wearing contacts a few year back because it was no longer comfortable on a daily basis. It got to the point where even wearing them for a few hours to go swimming or attend a wedding was becoming too much so I made an appointment to see Dr. Schrotenboer. I have worked in eye care, so I am familiar with dry eye symptoms and knew, even before the evaluation, that I was suffering from dry eye, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well the treatments worked. We were able to complete the recommended treatments and the improvements are impressive. I can wear contacts all day, most times without any discomfort at all. This is huge for me and I couldn’t be happier!

I have been on the struggle bus with dry eyes for quite a while. I had tried every eye drop at Walgreens. Nothing helped. I went to the Dry Eye Clinic and was so pleased to meet Dr Schrotenboer and his sweet wife Ann. They listened intently to my symptoms and offered some solutions. I felt optimistic! After going to multiple ophthalmologists for a random severe case of styes, each and every one of them gave me inconclusive results, stating I would have to ride them out due to them not knowing the cause, I was referred by one to Dr. S and Ann. I went to them with styes severe enough to swell my whole orbital and give me a black eye. Dr. S provided a couple types of treatments as well as at home care and instructions. After a couple months of this my styes were cleared and I have not had a problem since. Incredibly easy to work with, knowledgeable, and the both of them care immensely about their patients. I cannot say enough good things about them. Having such an odd case that had baffled multiple other eye doctors, Dr. S took on the challenge and helped me back on my feet.

Dr. Schrotenboer took the time to email and then call me (on a Friday after 5:00 pm) after an online inquiry. He listened to me and gave me useful information and then followed up with me a couple weeks later with more information! He had nothing to gain by helping me as I am too far away to be a regular patient. He was being a doctor in the true sense of his profession and helping….if you are near Holland, MI and need dry eye help give his office a call!!!
