MIS-DIAGNOSED CANCER!!! I was seen by the NP in the Ellijay office in Feb 2022 for a mole that concerned me. While there, the NP said that the mole “was a harmless little thing” and she “was thankful for it because those are the moles that bring us into see the dermatologist”. She DID NOT remove the mole and even noted it on my chart. I left there feeling uncertain about her decision and scheduled another visit to see a different dermatologist for a second opinion. The NP at my second opinion’s office had immediate concerns and removed the mole. Biopsy came back that it was CANCER! I was sitting in a surgical oncology office 2 days later scheduling a major surgery to remove tissue, calf muscle, and groin lymph nodes. Since sharing my story, I have learned of countless others being mid-diagnosed by this office. If you have gone here for mole checks, I highly recommend a second opinion. Had I listened to the NP at this office, it likely would have cost me my life. I am thankful for the dermatologist in Jasper Ga who took my concerns seriously and caught the cancer. I DO NOT recommend Gardner Dermatology/Dermatology Specialists in Ellijay, Ga.
