Brandy Derr was my stylist and she was awesome! This is a super fun, laid back salon, and Brandy has more than 14years of experience at Atomic alone. She cut off a considerable amount of hair and delivered my desired length and style in about an hour, where at other places my hair has taken well over 2 hours. She had great product recommendations as well! Overall it was awesome and I will be returning!

Critical: Quality, ValueMy roommate just went here and I’m writing this review for her.My roommate is here for uni, so this was her first time. The stylist made rude comments about her hair dye, corrected my roommate’s grammar about tattoo gun vs tattoo machine, and, the worst of it, gave her a horrid hair cut. The bangs are micro bangs and her hair looks super thin compared to when she went for the appointment. The stylist took her own liberties and did what the stylist wanted, not my roommate. Just got my haircut at Atomic Salon. Very cool guy named Mark cut my hair and he did a damn good job. I tend to avoid haircuts because short hair looks Goofy on me. But he cut my hair short but kept it looking fresh. Honestly the best haircut of my adult life. Good Tunes and great environment. Positive vibes. Atomic Salon is my kind of place. You can drink beer and wine while you wait if that’s what you fancy. I’ll definitely be going back!

Have you ever gone to a restaurant, ordered something, and then have the server bring you a different meal because the server doesn’t like what you ordered? Probably not. Well that’s essentially what happened here but with a haircut with Allie. After explaining what I wanted the stylist said she didn’t like that kind of hair and cut my hair a different then requested; a way that requires more work for me to style. She said she only gives the hair cut I wanted to certian people who needed to look mean and then in a round about way -while she cut my hair- refused to give it to me. To be clear she can cut the style I wanted, she just didn’t because SHE didn’t want to. Very unprofessional. You provide a service for someone else, it’s not about what you want. I won’t be returning and can’t reccomend.

Went in to get a good chunk cut off (like over 6 inches) due to it breaking so much. I told her what I needed and that I need something that is low maintenance. Let me tell you, she exceeded my expectations and then some! I haven’t had my hair this short in over 10 years but it was perfect. From the length, style, and the beautiful color. Got so many comments on it too! She took her time, asked me all of the right questions, and made sure I was happy at the end. (P.S.- loved the conversations with her too which is a huge bonus for me!) I will definitely be back!Love the shop too! Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueHi there.My roommate went to Atomic today to get her hair cut, and I’m writing this for her because she’s too nice to say anything. She was really excited, having found a woman-run and queer-friendly salon near where we live (down the street from NC State’s Campus) and wanted to get a “wolf cut”, which is what’s popular right now. Under the name “wolf cut”. Upon arriving and meeting with her stylist, she was corrected rather rudely about what it was called and that she didn’t want a “japanese wolf cut” and wanted a “shag” instead and was apparently pretty insistent about that, and repeatedly corrected my roommate- rather rudely. The stylist also corrected her about petty semantics, saying that “tattoo gun” was incorrect and that it was “tattoo machine”, and was generally pretty rude throughout the entire session. She was also very unprofessional and tried to chat up my roommate about how she was single and used to date this creepy guy, while giving my roommate frankly the worst haircut I’ve ever seen.
