This is by far the best place in St. Petersburg to get quality work done on your hair. Aminata is the best hair Braider in St. Pete. I get the same hairstyle done every 2 weeks and after numerous attempts with other salons and having horrible experiences (she literally had to fix my braids after another salon did a horrible job) I will never go anywhere but Aminatas West African Hair Salon! She is the best bar none it is not even close!! Everything from a simple 2 cornrow design to more difficult hairstyles she does with ease and at an amazing price! Don’t waste your time with other Hair-braiders, Aminata is top tier and undoubtedly the best! 5 Stars I wish I could put 6!

It was butterfly crochet it was not it, she knew I had the wrong hair and took my 180 anyway, I could have change it if she said something it last one week she tied up my hair with the crochet hair I even cut my own hair to get it out the worst I will never go back or tell my worst enemy to go there

Critical: QualityI went here on aug 30th I didn’t like my hair. By the night of aug 30th my hair had been taken out. I called them and explained that and I was told that it would be fixed as soon as I was ready. Well I was out of town from the 1st of September until yesterday October 14th I called today the 15th to explain that I’m back in town. Now because I didn’t inform them that I was working out of town now they are saying that they will do my hair at a discount rates. I don’t think that’s right when I paid $200 for a pixie I didn’t even wear for an hour. I don’t even want a pixie I really just want some regular plaits now. I managed to get my long blonde waist length hair severely matted yesterday, upon shampooing, first time ever. Anyway, I freaked out & managed to get the left side out myself, which took me many hours, using conditioners & olive oil. As for the right side I spent the whole entire day trying, with no luck. I went to ask my hairdresser to see if she could help, & she said she could cut part way up the matt, so I could salvage some hair, I didn’t want her to do that. So, I got even more frustrated trying again & again, & I almost cut it myself, & thought there’s gotta be a better way. So, I went to bed, to try to put myself out of my misery, & thought…dreadlocks are matted, & if they put them in, they can take them out! So, I googled: Dreadlock hair salons, & found & called Aminata, she was very sweet & told me to come in, thank god, because nobody else was open on Sunday. Her 17 yr old daughter, Katie worked on my hair & she got the matt out 100%! I was so happy, I was in tears! Also, she was very reasonable & she was a very sweet, kind, & awesome young lady! Katie not only got me back my long hair, but she also got me back my smile! I highly recommended this beauty salon & I was entertained by her adorable little niece! Thank you, Katie!

Invested $160 for my daughters back to school asymmetrical Box braids towards building self esteem and black girl magic. Started to come undone within a day….ugh. Returned within 3 day policy, a day after fix, more continued to unravel. In the spirit of supporting black business strayed from excellent service @ Anta’s hairbraiding nextdoor to Hungry Howie on 18th S, secondary shop, same quality located on the corner of 5th and 49th S. Go anywhere but here! Truly disappointed with lack of accountability when my money should represent the respect due. Run!!!!
