I used to like going here and had felt I was getting good service but that changed over the summer. It took me a while to write this because it was such a demeaning and traumatizing experience. I went for a wash and style. The male stylist was not someone I normally worked with but I didn’t mine. I have thick, curly textured hair and he used his fingers and hands to violently comb through my hair. It hurt so bad my head was sore and bruised for weeks. Anyway at some point he makes a comment on how I should think about cutting it short. I told him that I had grown it out because I wanted to. Then he proceeded to say that shorter cuts were now very popular with elderly women. I’m in my early 40s, and it was the week of my birthday. It made feel awful and I went home and cried. He made me feel so insecure that I did make a second appointment to get my hair cut short, and it was equally a bad experience. Never again. I debated whether I would write anything because for years I’ve been going there, but I don’t want anyone else to feel the way I did. And I was embarrassed that I made that second appointment. This is just an observation, but in general I’ve noticed everywhere there’s a near total loss of good customer service and lack of respect being shown both ways. Do better.

I had passed on Floyd’s many times. , because generally speaking, I don’t like chain barbershops. But this one has a variety of barbers that do a great job on all types of hair. My teen sons go there for their mop tops and are always pleased. Ortega worked with me to craft a revision for my fading pelo and I’m now more confident in my look than I’ve been in a long while. Be careful with the suggested products because they’re pricey, but they do guarantee you’ll be happy anything you buy.

I just went there to get a quick beard trim. Arrived at 1010. Two women standing behind the counter said it would be just a min. They literally stood there for 25 min doing paperwork. The third woman was giving a guy a goatee trim. They were fine and then decided to sit and have a conversation for 10 min. No one acknowledged me the entire 30 min I sat there. I just left. Terrible customer service

I’ve been to Floyd’s 99 in LaGrange several times prior to the Covid-19 shutdown. When I lived in that area, I routinely came in to get the hot towel, shave and always got excellent service. Completely unprofessional place and staff. I have been going there for 3+ years with Ryan (she is the best) but in the past 2 months they have canceled my appointment 3 times in a row. I understand once or even second time, but for the third time they didn’t even call me or notify me that she is not coming. I wasted my time going there only that they would tell me she didn’t make it today and the best they can do is to make an appointment in 8 days! Very unprofessional and disrespectful. No shame on Ryan, the appointment system is completely on the salon.

Ask for Maurice if you want a legit traditional barbers cut. I’m sure he’s great at other styles too but if you want a clean high n tight summer cut with style or a close fade with detail he’s the guy. I finally have a barber again that I’ll ask for by name.
