My 10 yr old son is biracial; Puerto Rican, Black and White, with curly hair. It is a hassle to drive all the way to Waukesha/Milwaukee to get a haircut that looks good. I picked sports clips (Oconomowoc location) due to their website stating the stylist are trained to cut hair of all different textures and ethnicities. This doesn’t seem accurate, at least for the stylist we had. We told her short on the sides/back and long on top – about half off on top. She couldn’t work the clippers through his hair on the sides with the guard, we saw her remove the guard and use a comb under the clippers, which is totally fine if you know what you’re doing so I didn’t think anything of it while sitting in the waiting area. But his hair on the sides and back have spots shorter than the rest causing literal spots all over his head. The top which she said she’d cut about half the length, starting at about 6 inches long, is now about the same length as the sides. She seemed a bit annoyed by the end. When we paid, I noticed my son still had hair all over his face/forehead, she didn’t even brush it off. I feel bad because my son was excited to go to a new place and get treated to a hair cut and now he doesn’t want to ever go back. If she was struggling with what we asked, I feel like she should have asked for help from another stylist or came and asked our input on what to do. Definitely not a place for “ethnic textured” hair.

check out the reviews and you will see that you may want to find a different place. My grandson went there today and they rushed getting his hair done, cut it way way too short and really made a disaster of the whole experience. A very sad young man and I would stay away. They may be able to use a clippers and shave your head but that’s as far as it goes

I don’t know what is so hard about a neck hair trim, but apparently it involves cutting your neck hair line up at least an inch past it’s natural growth. Thank you for the bowl cut around the ears, and if you are going to trim my sideburns, maybe don’t give me a buzz cut so I have a literal gap between my sideburn and my beard. It’s okay, it only takes 2 months to grow back. Just a guys haircut, so why care about the quality? Not using this place ever again. I was on a deserted island last month. No food, no water yet all I could think of is how I desperately needed a haircut. With desperation I checked into sport clips knowing there was no chance. All of a sudden I heard a loud whistle in the sky and Tess fly down with a scissors in hand. She cleared the island of corona with her sanitizing powers and gave me a fresh cut to make me look good for my afternoon with my friend Wilson. I then was rescued by a giant sport clips ship that brought me back to civilization. After seeing how bad the virus was on land I decided to go back to being deserted. Forever grateful to Tess and her dedication to give a great haircut!
