Botox® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine (onabotulinumtoxinA) that the doctor injects into your muscles to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. People 18 to 65 years of age are eligible. At our practice, Dr. Quintana administers Botox® Cosmetic as a simple, nonsurgical treatment into the area you’d like to improve. If you’re concerned about pain or have sensitive facial areas, we’ll be happy to apply an ice pack or anesthetic cream to the area.The purified protein from the injection goes to work immediately on the facial muscles that are causing wrinkles. You will begin to notice visible improvements over the next month.After identifying your trouble areas, your doctor may ask if you prefer to numb the area before the injections. If you choose to do so, the doctor can inject local anesthesia into your skin, otherwise, you can use a numbing cream or cold spray. Once Dr. Quintana numbs the area sufficiently, she will begin to inject tiny amounts of Botox directly into the skin or the underlying muscles where your wrinkles are most evident. The number of injections will depend upon the extent of the area that will be treated. Botox is essentially an outpatient procedure that can be done in minutes in the doctor’s office.To be able to effectively eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles, Botox acts by temporarily paralyzing muscle activity, specifically on the areas that are prone to wrinkle formation. The botulinum toxin is able to block certain chemical signals that cause muscle contraction from the nerves, which results in the temporary relaxation of the facial muscles that lie directly under your wrinkles.The effects of Botox usually begin to show a few days after the treatment. You will notice the wrinkles on your forehead, the frown lines in between your eyebrows, and the crow’s feet from the corners of your eyes begin to fade as the paralyzing effect of the treatment starts to take effect on the underlying muscles. The wonderful wrinkle erasing effects of Botox can last between 3 to 12 months, after which you will need follow-up injections to maintain the desired effect.Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. Your results may vary – be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about what you can expect and when to schedule your next appointment.

Chemical peeling is used to improve the skin’s appearance by applying a chemical solution to the skin, causing the top layers of skin to separate and peel off. The new skin is smoother, less wrinkled, and may be more even in color.

There are many perfectly natural reasons why body and facial hair grows the way it does, and where it does, but luckily, a visit to our spa can help eliminate this problem from your life – forever.Depending on your skin type and health status, laser hair removal treatments can be extremely beneficial. The elimination of unwanted hair can take up to six sessions, with intervals of up to a few months between each session. When you visit us for laser hair removal in New York City, we harness state of the art laser technology. Depending on the areas that are treated, sessions can last from a few minutes up to one hour. You will have an initial consultation, during which we will discuss your eligibility, how the treatment works, and schedule a treatment time. After arriving for your appointment, we will clean the area to be treated, apply a topical anesthetic, and give you safety glasses or eye shields to place over your eyes.Once we have prepared you for your laser hair removal in New York City, we will remove the anesthetic and apply a clear gel to the skin, which helps the chilled laser hand piece glide. The hand piece will be moved across the treatment area in an even pattern for one or more passes to achieve even coverage as the laser energy is delivered.After treatment your skin may appear flushed and/or swollen. This will usually subside after a few hours or days, depending on the intensity of treatment. Even if treated hair appears unchanged, it is now lifeless and will fall out over time. ResurFx is an extremely effective method of treating a variety of skin conditions. I have done multiple visits with Dr. Quintana. Going into a dermatologist is a vulnerable thing to do. She makes you feel comfortable and trusts your view in terms of how you feel/the reason for your visit. It’s been very easy to find an appointment if you have flexibility in your schedule, unlike many other dermatologists where you have to wait weeks before getting one.

Dr Quintana was very nice and her office is gorgeous. The reason for the low rating is because when I had Botox done here in 2021 on my forehead, I paid $750 and it wore off within 6 weeks. I really thought that was way too short results at too high a price. Now that I’ve had it done at another med spa a year later (and paid around $300), I noticed that my results lasted longer, 2+ months. So for that reason, I felt like I was paying more for the beautiful office and her dermatology credentials, rather than the results, so I will not return to Dr Quintana.
