I have been going to Sylvia for about 2 years and I have honestly never had a problem. She is very kind, professional, and I have always been happy with my hair. However, on April 16th I went in for full highlight and had a horrible experience. At a previous appointment I had discussed with her that I wanted to transition from red to blonde. We had talked about and she told me the least expensive way to do it was a full highlight. So when I was ready to do it, I called ahead and asked how much Sylvia charged for full highlight and the receptionist placed me on hold to go ask Sylvia. When she came back on the line, she told me $91. So I scheduled an appointment. First of all, the whole process took almost 5 hours. That’s not including a haircut. When I went to leave, they told me the price was $283. When I questioned this, I was told that the $91 was for “like 5 fouls”. This is ridiculous! My hair is light blonde on the top then a coppery blonde through the rest of it. My previous stylist back in Tempe would have never let me walk out of her salon looking like that, and then to ask me to pay almost $300?! I was so unhappy I went home and cried. My husband and I have maternity photos this weekend and I’m just stuck with hair that I am totally unhappy with. I would seriously recommend going somewhere else.
