We are a hair studio located in Deep Ellum right off Main St. We are a collective of independent barbers and stylists with a range of specializations, so we do our booking a little differently. This means that while we are probably able to accommodate your unique needs, not everyone at Level does everything. I don’t typically write reviews, but I HAD to after the outstanding service I got here yesterday. I booked a haircut online with Tasha for the first time, not knowing what her niche was. When I came in, she immediately told me that she specializes in Afro-textured hair and she didn’t think she could give me the haircut I wanted for my curly/wavy hair. Tasha was SO sweet and told me not to worry because she was going to get the perfect person to do the job.

I was in desperate need of a haircut and found Level 101 through Google. I texted Lana and she was super helpful. Immediately got me an appointment with Laura for the same week. Laura did an amazing job with my hair and I’m in love with my new cut! She worked with me on what I was looking to do to my hair and delivered on it. Highly recommend Laura – especially for any drastic cuts where you need to trust the stylist! She helped me take 7+ inches off and I couldn’t be happier with the result!

The atmosphere is beautiful and the person that works the front desk is great! Even the conversations that were held around me made me giggle, so friendly environment for sure. Tasha did my hair and my hair looks nice but she doesn’t seem like a people person in my opinion. She asked if I was tender headed and I said no because I’m not but she is very heavy handed when it comes to handling kinky/coily hair. I wouldn’t recommend just because there was no talk about my hair or any suggestions on what I should do or any questions about what I’ve done to it. She just does hair and not a person who actually cares about hair. Don’t let social media fool you. I am very particular about who I let in my hair and from her Instagram I was confident she was a person who would be gentle when working with my fine strands. I’ll admit I did book same day but I also called and she said she does do same day appointments. When I got there I didn’t get into the chair until 5:25 and my appointment was at 5:00pm. Maybe it’s different from others but that’s the vibe she gave off and I’m from Mississippi so I expected more. Sorry to say I won’t be back.

I’ve been going to Lana for my haircuts and color since 2016. She’s the most friendly, caring, and driven stylist I’ve ever had. With her amazing eye for detail, Lana does everything she can to make my cut perfect. I have never had a bad experience or walked out less than 100% happy. There is such a level of trust now that I don’t even have to tell her what I want–Lana just knows. I’ll never have my hair done by anyone else.

Since moving to Dallas 6 years ago, I’ve been bouncing around to numerous stylists at many of the well known salons. I only get a cut but have thick, somewhat curly hair. I’ve never been as satisfied with a cut as I was going to Lana. Not only did they bring out and accentuate my hair, but they also provided me with knowledge about how to style it and what products are best suited for my hair type. On top of all of that, I’ve never been to a salon as inclusive and safe for all communities as Level.

Lana did a great job on a pink dye. She was fun to talk to during the process. Very professional and just a great color. Despite him refusing to smile (teenager) he is super happy with it.
