Counter Movement
The Counter Movement System (CMS) is about breaking old habits and moving past prevailing movement patterns to access the benefits that come with going into opposite end ranges of movement.CMS is simple, precise and transformative: Simple. A simple but overarching idea so that people understand what and why they are doing something. It had to have a simple but profound theory. Precise. Precise in helping people figure out the #1, #2, (and #3 if needed) things that are a staple need for this person to maintain a high level of function with a minimum time for recovery. Engage neurological function. Cues to shift the autonomic NS are embedded into CMS so they become natural accessible tools in recovery.Theoretically, the functional goal of Counter Movement is a backflip. Simply because a backflip is the counter extreme to everything 99.9% of people do daily.A backflip is challenging at every level of your being. It challenges every comfort.
Deep Tissue Stretch: 7 Principles of Counter Movement
Being a Rolf Structural Integration practitioner has taught me a lot about our need to stretch. By volunteering at the San Diego Pain Summit I’ve learned how stretching can relieve pain. I love new information because I love to help people. The best way I can help is to teach new but simple stretching ideas.Today, people should have a good grasp of pain, but because the science is still new I developed the Counter Movement System (CMS). The Counter Movement System combines specific, simple, and sequenced stretching to address body imbalances. For the many biomechanical issues, CMS works great! It was made for both professionals and the public. Another person who’s done a ton is, Katie Bowman, check her stuff out, she’s awesome!Counter Movement can be “the quick fix” when issues are addressed relatively early, or “the drip fix” if they’ve been chronic and lingering for over 3 months. If you suffer from sciatic pain, frozen shoulder, femoral impingement syndrome, carpal tunnel we can help
Golfer’s Elbow & What You Can Do About It
If you’re suffering from pain around your elbow, whether it’s golfer’s or tennis elbow you’ve been wrapped up in a certain repetitive motion. I can guarantee that you’re either twisting your forearm or tensing it often throughout your day. If you can become aware of doing one or both of these, that’s the first habit repetition you want to break.Habits aren’t always easy to notice, they are so ingrained in us that we overlook how often we do them and how much impact they’ve had on us. The first step to change is ALWAYS, awareness. Become aware of the habit first. Learn as much as you can about it, not through Google, but through your own FELT experience. The foundation of my system is Mindset, without a growth mindset there’s no room for change. I teach my clients is to expect pain, and actually, welcome it! This is the essence of awareness and getting to know the details of the issue that no professional or scan can offer.

Rolf Structural Integration
The Ten-Sessions in Short: Session 1 Freedom and Expansion: Your spine, pelvis, and rib cage are aligned and free. Your breath capacity is increased and core structures relieved of superficial restrictions. Session 2 Support and Length: Foot arches and the function of your lower legs is improved. As a result, your spine and rib cage can come out of compression and experience length and optimal potential without effort. Session 3 The Third Dimension: Your shoulder and pelvic girdles are free from your body and your body’s lateral sidelines gain ease, length, and lightness. Session 4 Core Freedom: Your inner legs lengthen and pelvic floor balanced. The inner legs are almost always in constant contraction, a detriment to a healthy core. Session 5 Core Function: Your psoas muscle connects your spine to your legs, it is the deepest muscle of your body and most important to structural integrity. In this session your psoas function is improved and vital nerve centers that
The 3 “Do’s” and “Don’ts” of Low Back Pain
Low back pain is the most common reason for doctor visits and athletes are even more susceptible. Bishop O’Dowd’s 2020 tight end/defensive end, Colton Vardell, who has had recent offers by the New Mexico Lobos and USD, knows the short term benefits and long term advantages of taking care of his low back. An Epidemic Low Back Pain (LBP) is the single reason for most doctor visits. Globally, it is the leading cause for most years lived with disability. In America alone, it is a $50 billion dollar industry. Three main factors keep sufferers of LBP from getting better: Professionals disagree on how to treat it Ulterior financial interests by pharmaceuticals and other companies, and Outdated understandings held by both professionals and the public about how pain works, how to think about pain, and what treatments are most and least successful.
The Empowered 3: What to do For Lower Back Pain
Primitive pain advice for common musculoskeletal pain is, “Don’t move.” Today’s perspective is very different. Movement is the miracle medicine. Time magazine came out with a whole edition on movement, exercise is good, but it’s only an aspect of better movement. Stretching is also only an aspect of movement. The movement culture has begun, but we haven’t fleshed it out completely so it’s not understood fully. As we lead more athletic and movement centered lives we’re going to need to understand movement, but in particular micro-therapeutic movements, as our injuries and chronic pains increase. Here are my top 3 general pieces of advice on LBP. Welcome what common sense wants you to avoid. Sounds crazy, right!? Low back pain can be scary. If you automatically define the sensation you feel as pain, your brain only has one way to go: tense and protect. Gather data by being an unbiased objective observer of sensations that arise as you curiously explore various movements.
What’s Counter Movement
20 years ago I started to do research and I learned a Rolf Structural Integration (RSI) which gave me the info to begin the journey to recovery than has given me longevity that I never dreamed of.I’m grateful for having been in pain because it set my career path. My friend Rob who was the legendary boxer, Oscar De La Hoya’s trainer, massage therapist, and health coach, got me functional after a series of injuries, chronic neck, and low back pain slowed down my training. On Rob’s advice I went to Colorado to study with two of the master’s of Dr. Rolf’s work known as Rolf Structural Integration. That was a life changing experience and for the last 2o years I’ve been using SI to help people out of pain and increase their performance.About 6 years ago I had an ah ha moment. A client asked me, “Who works on your body? My response was, “No one.” And they also mentioned how well I embodied my work.
Sciatic pain
What doesn’t work for sciatic pain is chasing the symptoms with massage, physical therapy, etc. many people have even had surgery that didn’t work this is why I create a holistic approach that includes hands-work, education, and movement homework. If you’re serious about getting out of pain, call me

I was highly recommended to Chris by a friend of mine who recently saw him for back pain and said many great things about Chris’ unique skills which could not be found elsewhere. I went to see Chris for my severe left elbow and left hip pain which I have been dealing with for many years. I saw multiple doctors who just prescribed either shots, pain medication, or physical therapy which did not have much effect. After dealing with overbearing pain, I met Chris, he assessed and recognized my condition within 1-2 sessions and recommended a program. He helped me identify and understand my pattern, recommend changes which completely took away my elbow pain, and reduced my chronic hip pain to almost zero. Using his program, Chris was able help me in a way no one else could. Chris’ insight has been incredibly beneficial to improving my overall health and bringing my body back to balance. I am tremendously thankful to Chris and everything he has done for me, I highly recommend anyone who is dealing with any particular pain to meet with Chris. Outside of his expertise, Chris is also a very pleasant and personable individual to interact with.

My trainer recommended Chris for a low back issue that started in 2015 and got worse over time. I saw many therapists that were helpful with taking the edge off of the acute pain but the chronic pain persisted.

This is it, you found your guy. If you let him, Chris will help you find a way out of pain. His method is truly unique and based on knowledge that he’s built up through his decades of practice. As far as I know no one else is doing what Chris is doing.

I moved out of state but specifically sought Chris out when visiting CA last month. He had in past helped with a frozen shoulder. Now dealing with right hip mobility and pain, I was already considering an MRI. I had 3 sessions with Chris and I am now pain free and mobile. You have to listen to him. He sees the way you move and what could be causing your problem. The first session, he focused on relieving my pain and tension. He’s very knowledgeable of body motions and interactions, and worked not only my hip but upper torso and neck which was very tight affecting everything else. He is able to zero in where to tune the body. He got rid of much of my tension that day and I lit up with a really big smile. I’ve also been monitoring my blood pressure and after that first session, my bp went down, wow. He showed me hip stretches to relax the muscles. At the second session, he did more tuning, I still had pain. At third session, he showed me a most important aspect about my poor body posture—slouched, head downward, hips forward. I was not aware of this and actually saw the difference in the mirror in his office of my poor posture and the correct way. I have since implemented this new posture which helped greatly my hip. How wonderful to realize. Chris is most unique that way as he works with not only your body but your motions and mindset. I highly recommend him. Twice he has come to my rescue.

I went to see Chris to help me with my achilles pain. I had tried to resolve it myself but it was stubborn. I didn’t want to give up my walking and exercise regime and sought Chris out. He has a whole body approach. Chris was able to retrain me in many areas. I am right handed and therefore right dominant in much of my movements. He helped retrain me to walk in a more balanced way (especially my feet placement) and showed me how to pick up and carry objects just to name a few. By making these adjustments I was able to change my patterns and my pain went away.

There’s a reason certain people cross your path when you need them to. I’ve danced for 38 years. Covid shut the world down, and sitting around for the duration of the pandemic allowed the years of pain and injury stored in my body to manifest. At the point of desperation for any kind of relief, i began to research Rolfing, Deep Tissue massage, amongst other things, not sure of who I could trust to really help me. Also, coming from a background that made me so aware of my body, I thought it would be hard to find someone who would tell me and show me things I didn’t already know and understand.

Had my appointment with Chris and was blown away. Normally in anything healthcare related I’ve grown accustomed to being a bit rushed for the cliff notes version, and then assigned a prescription of movements and pain meds, if relevant.

I just went through a a six week period where 7 major life catastrophes hit and I ended up in the ER. The ER doctor’s did a lot of tests and concluded it wasn’t a heart attack, or a stroke, they dismissed the idea it could be a problem in my neck and ssid it was highly unlikely to be stress related and sent me home.

Amazing. Best ever. Healing treatment. I have better mobility, less pain, better sleep and overall better disposition because I feel better. Roofers have a reputation for being painful treatment. Chris gets results and doesn’t inflict pain. I look forward to me sessions and feel so good when I walk out of the office. It’s a total body transformation with results that last. If you can’t get relief from your pain try Chris and you will be elated with the results.

If I could give Chris six stars I would. I came to him with severe back pain Which I had tried everything possible to rectify naturally medicated surgically you name it. It wasn’t until I spoke to some friends who recommended Chris and and what he taught me about how to operate my body and connect with my bio-infrastructure was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.
